Job Description
- Req#: 83306
- Full financial decision-making power for RWE Renewables Australia group of companies and its projects and development activities. This includes the coordination of all finance activities of the company with sole accountability for all financial decisions according to RWE Renewables Europe & Australia approval policies.
- Direct and full responsibility for investment valuation and partnerships & transactions teams of RWE Renewables Australia. This includes taking the lead of transaction process coordination, unless transactions fall under the responsibility of Group M&A/Global Transactions. In the latter case, close collaboration with central M&A functions is expected. Moreover, the responsibility encompasses financial due diligence and valuation by means of overseeing financial model works in line with RWEs valuation standards, supporting internal decision making and identifying timing of required business case updates.
- Direct and full responsibility for all planning and controlling activities. Establishment of processes for project budgets and reports (DevEx, CapEx & OpEx) and responsibility for all cost management within projects. Support of creation of a mid term plan for a period of three years under guidance of RWE Renewables Europe & Australia.
- Disciplinary lead of all finance function staff and coordination for renewables projects. Functional responsibility sits within the central line functions at RWE. In particular:
- Disciplinary lead of accounting/finance, legal, procurement and IT staff ensuring that the business is supported to the best effect whereas the functions are governed by central functions.
- Support of commercial offtake initiatives such as power purchase agreements, as well as coordination of tax and insurance related issues jointly with central functions.
- Upon requirement the coordination of efforts to ensure bankability of project structures as well as supporting central structured finance teams in implementing non-recourse financing.
- Identification (and drive where needed) of areas where project economic returns can be optimized and support of project management where required. Ensure (financial) best practice is delivered across pipeline projects and lessons learned are collected, provided and applied.
- Strategic counterpart to RWE Renewables Europe & Australia head office ensuring financial alignment and representing RWE Renewables Australia at Steering Committees and Board Meetings.
- Contribution to defining all company policies, standard operating procedures, directives and guidelines with warranty that RWE policies are implemented and followed.
- Sign off role for tax & financial reporting compliance as prepared and maintained by Tax and Accounting/Finance functions, as well as for a functioning financial internal control system of RWE Renewables Australia.
- Excellent university degree in Economics, Finance/ Accounting, Business Administration, or similar (M.Sc. or equivalent)
- Several years of professional experience in investment and finance functions. At least 8 years of relevant experience in an international context and at least 4 years of leadership and senior management experience
- Broad finance background (in particular investment, transactions, valuation, controlling, financing) proven in senior positions; experienced in implementing non-recourse project finance
- Experience in the renewables industry is beneficial. Accounting or Legal experience is beneficial
- Leading and acting comfortably in cross-cultural teams, collaborating across country boundaries with a sense for diversity and inclusion
- Ability to building and maintaining a contact network and business relationships; excellent communication competencies with regard to all stakeholders; excellent negotiation skills; highest standards in transparency and compliance
- Strength in applying a structured working approach as well as strong analytical and project management skills
- Ability to set targets across functions to deliver overall business objectives; willingness to drive cost efficiency
- Willingness to undertake required project related business trips

Your role:
As CFO of RWE Renewables Australia, you will form the company Board of Directors together with the CEO and the CDO (Chief Development Officer) and act as the decision-making body for RWE Renewables in Australia.
You will be responsible for the optimization of financial returns of renewables projects in Australia. This includes responsibility for all financial projections of RWEs Australian wind, solar and battery projects. You will take the lead for RWE Renewables Australia in financial negotiations for partnerships and transactions and, where required, develop and coordinate project financing opportunities for projects under development and construction.
In liaison with the Head of Accounting and Head of Legal of RWE Renewables Australia, you ensure financial and legal compliance and implementation of global governance standards at RWE Renewables Australia and all its projects and development activities.
