      The Department of Physical Therapy at East Carolina University is seeking candidates for a full-time, 12-month tenured position at the Associate or Full Professor level. The successful candidate will provide leadership for the Physical Therapy faculty and work to continuously improve the education of Doctor of Physical Therapy students and scholarship in the department. The Chair of the department reports directly to the Dean of the College of Allied Health Sciences and will be asked to advance the college's vision of state and national distinction in professional education, research, and service. The Chair is also responsible for meeting the requirements set forth by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education.

      Specific Duties include:

      ·Providing administrative support and leadership for the department by communicating priorities, standards, and procedures effectively, articulate vision for the department, promote shared governance and academic freedom within the department and college.
      ·Contributing to the formulation and execution of College and University policies and
      regulations.
      ·Overseeing the development, execution, and review of a departmental strategic plan and ensuring that it aligns with those of the College and University.
      · Providing oversight of the department operations and budget including clinical operations and budget.
      · Teaching and conducting research and scholarship in their area of expertise.
      · Providing oversight, support, recruitment, development, and retention of faculty and staff.
      · Providing support in evaluating and recommending faculty for promotion/tenure and
      advancement in rank according to university policies.
      · Support faculty research, grant writing opportunities, and additional scholarly creative activities.
      · Participating in program development, reviewing processes, curricular changes,
      accreditation activities, and self-studies.
      · Developing workload and annual workplan expectations in collaboration with faculty and staff.
      · Conducting annual performance reviews of faculty and staff and merit recommendations to the Dean.
      · Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean.
