- Bachelor’s degree in ministry, counseling, theology, or related field required.
- Non-ordained minister with theological education, training, or certification in Christian education and pastoral services preferred.
- 0-2 years of experience.
- Visits and counsels those in spiritual need and comforts bereaved with a priority on crisis situations, including residents in all levels of care and hospitals, their families and team members.
- Conducts, or arranges for others to conduct, weekly community worship services in Health Services.
- Plans, preaches, and provides worship leadership as part of a regular rotation for Sunday morning worship services at the community and other special services throughout the year.
- Maintains a regular call rotation with other staff chaplains and interns.
- Attends funeral services and offers support and leadership for in-house memorial services.
- Administers and makes available to residents’ religious rites or ordinances associated with beliefs and practices of religious faith or denomination.
- Conducts, organizes, and develops activities and events in coordination with various community programs.
- Serves as an integral part of the interdisciplinary team at the community.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Provide pastoral services to residents.
- Knowledge of theology, gerontology, psychology, Christian education, and human development.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to keep confidences.The ability to be empathetic and communicate well with residents and family members as well as the community team members.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- May include frequent lifting up to 25 lbs., extensive walking, bending, stooping, and standing.
- Universal staffing, holiday, inclement weather, and a flexible work schedule are required.
- Exposure to the sights, sounds and smells of a typical heath care environment including interaction with people coping with dementia.
- Double Time when working designated holidays.
