  Chemical Engineer

  Tommy’s is looking for a Chemical Engineer who will be responsible for daily blending and bottling of detergents. This candidate will be performing quality testing and verifications and helping with development of new formulations, new product on-site testing and data gathering.

  Position Responsibilities:

  • Bottling and packaging chemicals
  • Chemical blending
  • Testing chemicals using pH, density, viscosity, and bubble structure equipment
  • Working with Hazmat chemicals
  • Data entry
  • Local wash site visits for testing of new and existing products
  • Develop and test new and upcoming products in the lab and at local sites
  • Develop new test methods for quantitave detergent analysis
  • Continuous improvement of blending processes and best practices
  • Equipment testing and set up
  • Individual projects as assigned
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Experience in chemical processing, mixing, or blending
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

  Position Qualifications & Candidate Attributes:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • College degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
  • Forklift experience

  Work Environment & Physical Demands:

  This job operates in both a warehouse and professional environment. Proper attire and equipment is required for the safety of the team member when working in hazardous situations. The following physical demands must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Ability to push/lift 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Bending at waist, sitting, kneeling, climbing, walking, crouching as job may require
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures
  • Working in high noise levels requiring hearing protection
  • Working around lubricants, solvents, batteries, cleaning fluids, paints, and other hazardous chemicals.
  • Able to work and commute in all weather conditions
  • Able to walk, bend, twist, turn, stoop, climb steps, reach with hands, use hands to fingers

  Travel

  Travel is primarily local during the business day. Occasional travel to franchise locations.
