      Job Description: Chemical Process Engineer

      We are urgently seeking a Chemical Process Engineer to lead the transfer, setup, and optimization of a critical chemical manufacturing process involving pyrophoric iron. The ideal candidate will have direct experience with hydrogen reduction processes, furnacing, and powder blending operations. You will be responsible for bringing an existing process from paper to production, with support from government subject matter experts and internal teams.

      Responsibilities

      • Lead the technology transfer and setup of the pyrophoric iron production line.
      • Oversee process design, equipment specification, and installation.
      • Manage hydrogen reduction and furnacing operations to produce activated iron.
      • Ensure safe handling and storage of pyrophoric materials to prevent air reactivity.
      • Develop and optimize automated powder blending and dispensing systems.
      • Collaborate with internal teams and external SMEs to ensure process success.
      • Train junior engineers and hand off the process once stabilized.
      • Support future chemical engineering projects at the facility.

      Essential Skills

      • 3+ years of experience in Chemical/Process Engineering.
      • Experience with pyrophoric materials.
      • Working knowledge of activated metals.
      • Hydrogen reduction process experience.
      • Chemical and reactive testing experience.

      Additional Skills & Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering.
      • 3-5+ years of experience in chemical process engineering, preferably with pyrophoric materials or metal reduction.
      • Proven experience in process scale-up, equipment commissioning, and production ramp-up.
      • Familiarity with CAD tools.
      • Strong understanding of chemical safety, especially with reactive materials.
      • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
      • Experience in government or defense-related chemical manufacturing is a plus.
      • Experience in automated powder handling systems is advantageous.

      Pay and Benefits

      The pay range for this position is $100000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
