- Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders and community partners regarding resources, programs, services, and learning opportunities and experiences for students.
- Develops the school's strategic direction related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and related student programs and services associated with teaching and learning.
- Develops schoolwide instructional priorities that improve student growth and proficiency on state local, state, and federal assessments and reduce academic performance gaps between the identified student groups.
- Analyze the needs, interests and strengths of students to strategically identify programs, services, and resources to enhance their learning experiences
- Aligns and implements extended day, extended year, and out-of-school time resources to the core instructional program outcomes and collaborates with staff to determine and report the impact of the programs on student progress.
- Solicits input from staff to actively engage them in identifying their instructional needs and use the data to appropriately facilitate their professional learning experiences related to teaching and learning.
- Hires, trains, directs, evaluates, coaches and mentors.
- Creates and presents various reports and updates to the Head of School and the Board at Codman Academy.
- Establishes processes and structures that promote communication, collaboration, and coordination of support to schools within and across offices.
- Maintains a professional and respectful work environment that promotes authentic engagement of staff in decisions, professional learning opportunities, problem-solving, and other characteristics of a positive work environment.
- Establish and maintain positive and authentic working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including advisory groups, related to student services and programs, school initiatives, and accountability measures.

Job Title : Chief Academic Officer
Supervisor : Head of School
Hours : 8:45am-5:00pm, Monday through Friday
Description : The Chief Academic Officer will p rovide direct supervision to leaders responsible for Pre-K-12 and Career and College Readiness school-wide programs and services; Special Education and related business and related services; and English Learners and Multilingual Education Services. Manages, plans, directs, organizes, coordinates, implements, monitors, and assesses all school-wide educational and instructional programs, policies, accreditation, and procedures for pre-kindergarten/early childhood and Kindergarten - Grade 12.
Responsibilities include (but not limited to):The Chief Academic Officer reports to the Head of School and performs the following primary responsibilities: Provides visionary leadership and establishes, communicates, and operationalizes a clear, school-wide, research-based vision for a world-class education, cultivating social justice pedagogical knowledge and skill through culturally proficient and equity-based core instructional programs. Meet the diverse needs of all students, including English language learners and multilingual education; students receiving special education services; and those eligible for gifted and talented services and resources. Provides direct supervision to leaders responsible for Pre-K-12 and Career and College Readiness school-wide programs and services; Special Education and related business and related services; and English Learners and Multilingual Education Services. Manages, plans, directs, organizes, coordinates, implements, monitors, and assesses all school-wide educational and instructional programs, policies, accreditation, and procedures for pre-kindergarten/early childhood and Kindergarten - Grade 12. Oversees the services that meet the unique instructional needs or interests of students: special education, accelerated and enriched instruction; IB/Magnet programs; career and technology education; interventions; out-of-school time, and other related programs. Collaborates with others to manage and equitably allocate grant and federal program resources; strategically and organically integrates educational technology in all aspects of the curriculum and instructional program; and ensures the instructional resources reflect aligned assessment and accountability measures. Facilitates the planning, implementation, and evaluation of all related professional development. Engage staff and community stakeholders to plan/support the schools’ strategic priorities and initiatives through collaborative opportunities with school leadership to improve student academic success and overall student and school experiences. Establishes a comprehensive student assessment program aligned with the curriculum to determine student learning levels. Administers a multi-tiered system of interventions to improve achievement of students who are not meeting grade-level expectations. Designs innovative subject, classroom, and whole-school instructional programs to increase staff capacity and student learning.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Advanced knowledge of PreK-12 central office administration procedures and practices related to curriculum, instruction, assessment, and programs and services for all students. Proven strategic and visionary skills with group facilitation, planning, problem-solving, and coaching/mentoring. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead staff to set standards and to accomplish goals in a large and complex education organization. Proven leadership commitment and experience to contribute to cultural equity, diversity, and inclusion for education and professional enrichment in support of the school being an antiracist school. Proven qualitative and quantitative data analysis capabilities to lead the development of data-driven and school-level goals and decision-making skills that meet the unique and diverse program and service needs of individuals and groups of students. Experienced in the supervision and evaluation of staff using standards-based criteria. Proven ability to authentically communicate, interact, and work effectively and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders, including those from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural and educational backgrounds. Proven ability to oversee & guide complex, politically sensitive community processes that result in authentic and strong engagement with key external organizations, students, families, associations and government and community partners, and the community at large.
