- Leadership- Responsible and accountable for Informatics activities across the health system. Facilitates activities of the assigned informatics teams for system wide delivery and support of patient care workflow documentation within the electronic medical record and other clinical systems. Assigns work consistent with qualifications of departmental personnel. Evaluates staff performance, providing counseling when needed. Provides adequate opportunities for team member growth and skill development.
- Collaboration- Supports a harmonious work environment by developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with all members of the care team, including direct and indirect caregivers, medical staff and leaders across the enterprise. Collaborates with leaders to ensure Clinical Informatics and IT efforts support health system strategic plans. Actively participates in medical staff and health system leadership meetings, as requested.
- Training and Education- Oversees clinical technology related training strategies and educational efforts for direct and indirect caregivers, medical staff and students. Develops a Super User strategy.
- Organizational Change Management- In partnership with the health system CIO, develops and oversees technology related change management efforts, ensuring alignment with national best practices. Develops comprehensive communication plan to ensure changes are effectively introduced into the environment.
- System and Integration Testing- In partnership with the health system CIO, develops a comprehensive Integration testing strategy. Ensures applications are working as designed and that future implementations and upgrades are designed respective to clinical best practice and end user optimization needs.
- Process Improvement- Actively participates in process improvement (PI) initiatives, utilizing LEAN and other PI methodologies when appropriate.
- Manages departmental budget.
- Interviews, selects, hires, and retains employees, including other management positions.
- Ensures orientation and training for employees, including other management positions.
- Manages performance, including other management positions.
- Promotes, demotes, or transfers employees to meet organizational needs, including other management positions.
- Executes employee accountability process up to and including termination.
- Manages departmental productivity standards.
- Provides strategic leadership for department(s).
- Performs long range planning and overall direction setting at the departmental level.
- Responsible for department organizational structure and alignment to meet forecasted business needs.
- Responsible for development, implementation and interpretation of system policies within a major organizational/functional area or the development and review of system policies within a recognized discipline.
- Maintains performance, patient and employee satisfaction and financial standards as outlined in the performance evaluation.
- Performs compliance requirements as outlined in the Employee Handbook

Overview
The Chief Clinical Informatics Officer (CCIO) oversees the multi-disciplinary Clinical Informatics service line across the health system. The CCIO is responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive Informatics strategy that meets organizational imperatives, ensuring clinical technology is efficiently designed and implemented to enhance individual and population health outcomes, improve patient care and strengthen the clinician - patient relationship. The CCIO, in partnership with the CIO and health system leaders will develop and execute a comprehensive IT roadmap. The CCIO serves as the Informatics expert for the health system and assists in the professional development of Informatics skills across the enterprise.

Qualifications
Required Experience: 5 years of progressive management/ leadership experience, 10 years of direct healthcare experience.
Required Education Requirement: Master’s degree in Nursing, Informatics or related field, prefer doctorate degree in Nursing or Informatics related field. Must have an RN license to practice in Alabama.
Required Certification: ANCC Nursing Informatics Board Certification, or similar for respected clinical discipline.
Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
WORK CONTEXT
Requires frequent face-to-face and telephone contact with others at all organizational levels, internal and external applicants and other customers. Work is fast paced and unpredictable in a customer service environment. Deals with external customers and may require occasionally dealing with conflict and/or an angry person. Requires constant use of email. Works as part of a team. Requires individual outcomes as well as team-based outcomes.
Work is primarily performed in a clean, indoor and temperature-controlled environment with no unusual physical effort. May require performing tasks in moderately close proximity to others. Cognitive abilities required include deductive reasoning, information ordering, oral comprehension, oral expression, problem sensitivity, written comprehension, and written expression.
This position will involve analyzing data and information, having the ability to work independently or in a team environment, preparing written letters and memos, critical thinking and using good judgment in decision making.
PHYSICAL FACTORS
Primarily sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Involves sitting the majority of the time. Walking and standing are required occasionally throughout the work day. Manual and finger dexterity required. May require the ability to stoop, kneel and/or crouch on occasion. Physical presence onsite is essential. Local and/or long-distance travel may be required. Hearing and vision must be normal or corrected to within normal range. Able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
