Lockheed Martin is looking for a dedicated Chief Engineer to join the Tactical Space team. This is a Full Spectrum Leadership position which serves as LM Space technical oversight and owns System of Systems Engineering, integration and end-to-end test support for all Tactical Space functionality. Lockheed Martin’s Tactical Space capabilities will be a key contributor to our customer’s Joint All Domain Operations (JADO) vision.
As the Chief Engineer, your roles and responsibilities will include:
• Setting the tone for engineering execution on the program
• Engineering in all phases of the project lifecycle
• Being the first line leader for program technical leads and managers to drive program success
• Building and validating Basis of Estimates (BOEs)
• Organizing, motivating and leading cross-functional teams, and demonstrating in-depth technical skills with a focus on Mission Success
• Partnering with the Major Functional Organizations (MFOs), other Lines of Business (LOBs) and other Lockheed Martin Business Areas on joint strategies to use the full strength of the enterprise to execute the Tactical Space vision
• Driving drive standard methodologies and process across the program to provide an optimal and cost-effective solution and advancing 1LMX Digital Engineering approaches
• Being accountable to the Program Manager for the engineering efforts including program execution, supplier sell-off and estimation of engineering scope in proposals
• Tailoring the LM standard processes, methods, tools, and metrics as required for Program unique requirements
• Establishing requirements, obtain customer validation, and flow requirements down to systems, subsystems, hardware, software, and procedures
• Coordinating program actions with internal and external leadership of all levels as required

• Significant knowledge and experience driving closure and resolving complex technical issues/challenges
• Significant experience in baseline management ensuring successful program completion
• Experience performing technical evaluations on suppliers
• Demonstrated experience as a technical leader or manager
• Experience with satellite systems and/or payloads in all phases of the program lifecycle
• Experience with cost account management principles, techniques, and processes
• Experience with proposal lifecycle including building and validating Basis of Estimates (BoEs) and supplier technical evaluations
• U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain/maintain a TS/SCI security clearance • Small satellite experience, especially with rapid demonstration/prototype spacecraft projects
• Strong mission and end-to-end systems expertise
• Previous formal leadership experience managing multiple employees including technical and administrative responsibilities
• Strong critical thinking skills and ability to translate into actions and results
• Demonstrated ability to deliver in fast paced environment
• Demonstrated ability to be a strong team player
• Active TS/SCI clearance
