The role you’ll contribute:
The Chief Flight Nurse (CFN) is responsible for assisting the Flight Program Manager with supervising clinical staff and managing an integrated clinical team. The CFN maintains safety as the cornerstone, builds exceptional customer-centered experiences, maximizes positive outcomes, values people, and evolves and maintains viability. The Chief Flight Nurse (CFN) oversees the clinical activities of the AdventHealth Emergency Medical Services (AHEMS) AirStar Flight team, which comprises the Certified Flight Paramedic and the Certified Registered Flight Nurse. The AirStar team is accountable for the delivery of pre-hospital, professional nursing, and flight medic care in conjunction with other providers from intra-facilities and pre-hospital settings. The following populations are served: neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, bariatric, and geriatric.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Collaborates with the flight program manager in maintaining clinical duty schedule and assures proper medical coverage for all shifts at assigned bases.
• Collaborates with the flight program manager to maintain the monthly schedule, schedule changes, overtime, and call-in coverage. Collaborates with the flight program manager to approve time and provides corresponding clinical time management, including monitoring for accuracy.
• Establishes and executes patient care policies and procedures in conjunction with the organization's leadership.
• Maintains and reports statistical data in an appropriate manner.
• Maintains and stays current on local, state, and national trauma issues and trends.
• Guides the flight program's initiative to improve performance.
• In charge of the AirStar Flight team in collaboration with leadership team and flight program manager
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a minimum of an Associate of Science degree.
• Graduate of an accredited paramedic program within 24 months of hire if challenging the state or national registry exams is not possible.
• Minimum of seven to ten (7-10) years of continuous healthcare experience in the ED and/or applicable ICU units.
• Minimum of three (3) continuous years as a flight nurse in a rotor wing program.
• Active and unrestricted Florida Nursing License.
• Florida Paramedic Certification or Nationally Registered Paramedic (NRP) to
• be obtained within 24 months of hire.
• CFRN Certified Flight Nurse
• ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support
• BCLS Basic Cardiac Life Support
• PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support
• NRP Neonatal Resuscitation Program
• TPATC Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course obtained within six months of hire.
EDUCATION POST-HIRE
• AVADE Education within 6 months of hire date.
• 8 hours Stroke Education within 6 months of hire date, then annually.
• NIHSS Certification upon hire.
• 8 hours Hip & Knee Replacement / Spine Education within 6 months of hire date, then annually.
