Goal Provides coordination and support to all groups within the Information, Communication, and Technology Services department and serves as the liaison between ICTS and other departments. Performance Responsibilities Develops, monitors, and implements CPS vision for leveraging technology to support teaching and learning as well as all administrative functions of the district. Coordinates the ongoing services provided by the program areas within ICTS; Technical Services, Educational Technology, Library Media, Media Arts Studio, Digital & Creative Services, Data Management and the Media Arts Studio. Participates with and supports the Executive Leadership Team as needed. Facilitates strategic plans within ICTS, including disaster recovery plan, cybersecurity plan, data governance/management plan, and strategic enterprise network plan. Serves as Chief Privacy Officer. Assists with planning, coordination, and management of all major technology initiatives within Cambridge Public Schools. Leads research into industry trends for hardware and software and applies the trends to needs of the school district. Compiles and updates a set of technology-related policies and procedures for the acquisition, use, and security of technology-related equipment and software. Evaluates proposed technology purchases for compatibility and compliance with school district standards. Coordinates the development of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and writes the technical bid specifications and the evaluation criteria for soliciting appropriate hardware and software vendors. Oversees the technology vetting & purchasing approval process Develops and executes a departmental budget, including contract management. Maintains an accurate department inventory and evaluates the requests made by schools and departments. Actively participates in opportunities for professional development through local and regional professional associations. Collaborates with the City of Cambridge IT department, as well as other city departments as needed, on joint projects. Performs other related duties as directed. Education Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Instructional Technology, Library Management, or a related discipline. Master’s Degree in a related area preferred. Qualifications Ability to effectively work with teachers, students, school administration and staff, program managers/specialists, central office personnel, and business representatives is essential. Demonstrated understanding and/or experience in managing both Educational Technology and Technical services in a preK - 12+ environment. Exceptional planning, coordination, management, organizational, and presentation skills are essential. Ability to function as a recognized leader in the department and as a role model of the district’s and department’s core values. Excellent written and oral communication, customer service, and public relations skills are required. Reinforces team approach within ICTS through project management structures and regular team meetings. Willingness to support and solicit input from team members at all levels within ICTS. Ability to prepare reports and communicate technical information and concepts to a general audience. Possess comprehensive knowledge of the operation, uses, and capabilities of computer and office technology equipment and basic maintenance. Must be thoroughly knowledgeable of the methods and practices used in providing required control and security of all data input and output in the system. Extensive experience developing, implementing, and coordinating technology program(s) or project(s) with district-wide goals, objectives, and outcomes is desired. Pay Scale Salary Plan 12 Grade 16A $179,140 to $191,804 Experience Building-level or district-level administrative leadership experience strongly preferred. Minimum of five years experience, 10 years preferred, as Technology Director, Instructional Technology Coordinator, Instructional Technology Teacher, or Library Media Specialist also strongly preferred.
