      Description

      JOB SUMMARY

      The Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) will be a strategic leader responsible for developing and executing comprehensive marketing, communications, and brand strategies that advance our mission and drive organizational growth. This role requires a passionate advocate for our mission who can translate our impact into compelling narratives that inspire donors, volunteers, and community partners.

      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

      Strategic Leadership

      • Develop and implement integrated marketing strategies aligned with organizational mission and strategic goals
      • Lead brand positioning and messaging to differentiate the organization in the nonprofit sector
      • Collaborate with the CEO and the executive team to drive revenue growth through marketing initiatives
      • Establish marketing metrics and KPIs to measure campaign effectiveness and ROI
      • Oversee annual marketing budget and resource allocation

      Brand Strategy & Management

      • Develop and maintain comprehensive brand guidelines, visual identity, and messaging frameworks
      • Ensure consistent brand application across all touchpoints, materials, and communications
      • Conduct regular brand audits and competitive analysis to maintain market positioning
      • Lead brand evolution initiatives and rebranding efforts as organizational needs change in collaboration with GSUSA
      • Oversee trademark protection and intellectual property management
      • Manage brand partnerships and co-branding opportunities with corporate sponsors and community partners
      • Monitor brand reputation and sentiment across all channels and stakeholder groups

      Marketing Communications

      • Direct multi-channel marketing campaigns across digital, print, and traditional media
      • Manage website strategy, content marketing, and search engine optimization
      • Oversee social media strategy and community engagement initiatives
      • Develop compelling storytelling that showcases program impact and beneficiary outcomes
      • Create marketing materials, including brochures, newsletters, annual reports, and case studies
      • Develop strategic communications around policy initiatives and advocacy positions

      Digital Marketing & Technology

      • Lead digital transformation initiatives and marketing automation implementation
      • Oversee customer relationship management (CRM) systems and data analytics
      • Manage email marketing campaigns and donor communication workflows
      • Optimize online giving platforms and user experience
      • Leverage data analytics to inform marketing decisions and improve campaign performance

      Qualifications


      QUALIFICATIONS

      • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, related field, or equivalent experience
      • Minimum 12 years of progressive marketing experience with at least 7 years in senior leadership roles
      • Demonstrated experience in the nonprofit sector or mission-driven organizations

      KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

      • Expertise in digital marketing platforms, analytics tools, and marketing automation systems
      • Proficiency with CRM systems (Salesforce, Blackbaud, or similar nonprofit-focused platforms)
      • Strong knowledge of SEO, SEM, social media marketing, and content management systems
      • Experience with graphic design principles and brand management
      • Data analysis and reporting capabilities
      • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
      • Strategic thinking with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans
      • Strong project management and organizational skills
      • Collaborative leadership style with cross-functional team experience
      • Budget management and financial acumen

      PREFERRED SKILLS

      • Previous experience in a similar nonprofit subsector (health, education, social services, etc.)
      • Track record of successful capital campaign marketing
      • Experience with planned giving and major donor communications
      • Professional certifications in marketing, communications, or nonprofit management
      • Experience with board communications and governance support

      Must successfully complete a criminal, motor vehicle, and credit background check.
