- Organizes nursing leadership, services, programs, policies, and procedures which are developed to serve the Mission, Vision, Values, and Strategic Direction of KRMC.
- Implements standards of nursing practice, reviewing and revising as necessary to reflect changes in nursing delivery and to the people served.
- Addresses and supports cultural practices as long as the practices do not harm others or interfere with the planned course of medical care.
- Assures that clear, concise, and current written policies and procedures are available to assist the staff and minimize risk factors.
- Recommends modifications, additions, or deletions to nursing staffing plans to ensure reasonable hours and acceptable working conditions to provide optimal patient care coverage.
- Maintains close coordination of nursing departments in alignment with all other departments of KRMC to ensure continuity and collaboration of services.
- Assures that all aspects of patient care are in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Develops and approves job descriptions within the scope of responsibility.
- Effectively leads and administers the performance appraisal system across the nursing services division.
- Gives routine performance feedback, conducts annual performance reviews for management personnel, and works in collaboration with HR and the senior leadership team to ensure the reward and recognition system is competitive.
- Builds and leads a culture of teamwork and respect throughout the organization, engaging effectively with all stakeholders, e.g., physicians, staff, outside contractors, and the people served.
- Provides leadership and mentorship in the development of nursing leaders and staff.
- Responsible for cost controls to ensure effective use of funds expended from approved nursing department budgets.
- Initiates and supports in problem-solving groups that proactively resolve issues within nursing services.
- Participates in Administrator on Call rotation with senior team leaders.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Current license by the state of Nebraska as a registered nurse.
- Master’s degree in healthcare management or related field, or commitment to enroll and complete in 3-years.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in healthcare management of an acute care medical center, seven years preferred.
Serves as a member of the executive leadership team accountable for KRMC nursing services oversight, which includes a matrix relationship with PVMC, and the direct coordination and daily operations of nursing areas. Consults with physicians, staff, and CEO on nursing matters, including nursing, and interpretation of facility policies and procedures to ensure needs are met. Maintains performance improvement activities across the nursing services areas, within the departments, and participates in continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities.
