Serve as Chief of Staff to the SVP, Head of U.S. Medical Affairs
Support Head of USMA to develop short- and long-term USMA priorities (business, financial and people) aligned to CMG Outcomes
Serve as a core member of the Medical Leadership Team (MLT) ensuring the leadership team is setting and achieving outcomes, and focused on the top priorities
Advise and challenge MLT as architects in executing and adapting our USMA operating model to anticipate external and internal dynamics
Partner with Head of USMA to orchestrate MLT meeting rhythm, agenda, content and offsites to maximize team effectiveness and ensure optimal value is created
Key, influential voice in the CMG Operations Community to ensure we can act as one organization
Oversees USMA Communications, in concert with CMG Communications
Support MLT+1 Community, including building connections across the broader leadership team through meetings and communications
Orchestrate and execute on coordination and communication between USMA, Field Medical, Customer Engagement (CE), Commercial Portfolio Organization (CPO), Genentech Business Operations (GBO) and Public Affairs & Access (PAA) through regular touchpoints as a member of the USLT Operations Leads Team/Senior Leadership Collective
Cultivate community sensing, connection, engagement, and support across U.S. Medical Affairs
Support efforts in cultivating an environment that makes USMA a great place to work through supporting employee engagement, development, D&I and belonging. Develop and maintain sensing mechanisms to monitor organizational health and effectiveness, and employee engagement, and identify issues and opportunities, in partnership with CMG Operational Excellence & Communications and People & Culture
Leads, coaches, develops and recruits talent for an Operations and Administrative team of 35+
Has insight into the operational work across the function and can effectively prioritize and direct focus to maximize the impact of the team

Bachelor’s Degree required.
12 or more years of pharmaceutical biotechnology industry experience. Must demonstrate outstanding knowledge of program management and business process improvement, preferably across multiple functional areas
Minimum 8 years of experience direct program management experience; proficiency with project management systems, software/programs
Minimum 8 years of experience in a people management role; demonstrated evidence of successfully achieving results, managing a high functioning team that delivers on their accountabilities, and mentoring and developing emerging leaders
Experience in leading and driving change, conveying the business imperative, inspiring leaders to be role models, and providing support for employees to develop new capabilities and learn new behaviors

The Chief of Staff & Head of Business Strategy & Operations for the US Medical Affairs (USMA) Team plays a key role in the effective functioning and strategic success of both the USMA organization, as well as the Operations and Administrative teams that they lead. This role reports to the Head of USMA, serves as the “Chief of Staff” to this position and is a key member of the Medical Leadership Team (MLT) .
In this role the Chief of Staff & Head of Business Strategy & Operations will be accountable for delivering the strategy deployment around vision, goals, roadmap, and other relevant deliveries across USMA. They will lead the strategic planning processes across the organization through strong collaboration with key stakeholders and network teams and will interact closely with employees to proactively identify constraints and opportunities for continuous improvement. They will determine and prioritize key performance indicators and deploy visual systems to effectively measure performance and action planning to continuously improve performance. They will also work with the Medical leadership team (MLT) to translate vision/strategy to actionable deliverables at all levels in the organization. This individual is accountable for identifying operational efficiencies and business strategies to drive business performance across the Genentech portfolio and to ensure a strong team and customer experience through effective communications, engagement utilization of tools, resources, account planning, and training.

Operating Principles
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $192,500 and $357,500. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
