      The Digital, Data, Intelligence & Marketing team (DDIM) within the Technology Organization at American Express brings together foundational strategic technology capabilities in digital experience engineering (Mobile and Web), personalization, marketing technology, enterprise communications, AI/ML and automation, grounded in our data technology model that prioritizes data governance. It employs a ground-breaking focus with development responsibilities for customer-facing capabilities that deepen and expand digital engagement, as well as core technical capabilities that cut across business lines and customer segments.

      The Chief of Staff/Director Assistant is responsible for a broad range of activities including strategic, analytic, and communications initiatives to help ensure the objectives of the organization are met. The incumbent will be a key member of the DDIM Executive Leadership Team, working closely and collaborating with all members of the team. They will possess outstanding thought leadership, strategic thinking, communication, and organizational skills, and will have a proven record of excellence operating independently and within a high performing team environment. This individual will also serve as a thought partner in determining direction for the organization and business partners, in collaboration with the EVP and their team.

      Key responsibilities include:

      • End-to-end creation of impactful and comprehensive communications/presentations for key business reviews with senior management
      • Lead ad hoc special projects.
      • Accelerate executive decision-making by:

      1) Conducting ad hoc analysis, research, and data collection

      2) Creating structures for organizing and presenting information

      3) Minimize fire drills.

      • Lead goal-setting and measurement process for the EVP team
      • Manage business planning and operational processes driven through the EVP office.
      • Run major annual talent management processes such as talent assessment and year-end performance management.
      • Organize and facilitate leadership meetings, calls and forums. Plan content & agendas and manage follow-ups for meetings involving EVP and broader leadership team.
      • Coordinate office operations and ensure the seamless delivery of Technology and AXP information requests.
      • Seek out and implement standard methodologies and industry trends which can be used to increase organizational efficiency and quality.
      • Be a self-starter, operate independently, and have a consistent track record of influence without authority across many levels of the organization.
      • Passion for creating and championing an inclusive team and work culture, where all team members feel seen, heard, and included.
      • Create good working relationships across the organization to improve information sharing, problem solving and idea generation for key business issues.

      Qualifications:

      The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter who is able to provide strategic thought leadership and lead projects with limited guidance. The individual must be composed, organized, culturally-aware and a strong communicator who can effectively multitask and prioritize as needs evolve. Additional qualifications include:

      • Proven track record to take sophisticated technical information and translate it into clear communications (presentations/memos) for a variety of audiences.
      • Proven ability to navigate effectively and efficiently within large, complex organizations.
      • Demonstrated ability to get results, think strategically and globally.
      • Highly motivated self-starter with ability to juggle multiple tasks, with excellent organization skills and careful attention to detail.
      • Proven work experience within areas such as CEG, Project Management or Technology
      • Experience of CEG processes and/or familiarity with American Express business groups preferred.
      • Demonstrated project management, organization and planning skills applied in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment.
      • Passion, energy, personal accountability and a desire to learn and grow as a leader.
      • Excellent interpersonal, judgment, communication and follow through skills.
      • Solid analytical and financial competence
      • Outstanding interpersonal/ relationship building, oral and written communication skills.
      • A standout colleague who is able to build consensus and work across a large and diverse organization.
      • Demonstrated ability to learn quickly, work effectively in ambiguous situations, and a willingness to take charge and get results.
      • Active listening skills, summarization skills and lateral thinking to uncover and react to emerging opportunities.
      • Demonstrated ability to remain calm under pressure and be flexible when faced with changing priorities.
      • Able to deal with confidential information without exception.
      • Prior technology experience/knowledge is preferred.
      • Typically holds a Bachelor's or Master's Degree (or has equivalent work experience)

      Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
