      About this opportunity

      We’re recruiting for an exciting new opportunity to be a part of our Business & Commercial Banking (BCB) leadership team as our Chief Operating Officer. This role is a large-scale senior leadership role, with a team of c.3,000 colleagues that will design, manage and coordinate a robust operating infrastructure for BCB.

      Focused on supporting the delivery of BCB strategic objectives including increasing our product origination, and fulfilling and digitally servicing and diversifying the overall BCB portfolio. This role will design, develop and implement strategies for the business that deliver compelling multi-channel customer proposition; and will have responsibility for enhancing service and channel journeys to drive enhanced customer experience, operational efficiencies and agile customer solutions.

      The Business & Commercial Banking Chief Operating Officer is accountable for the delivery of all non-platform aligned BCB Programmes ensuring that the Commercial Programmes P&L is invested to build the simplest, most engaging client experience whilst focusing on achieving compliance and regulatory requirements on behalf of the Bank. The role is also responsible for full integration of all operational teams across the heritage Business Banking and heritage Commercial Banking businesses to harmonise customer experience across operational segments and drive appropriate efficiencies. There is also a provision of shared service for relevant services into BCB and receipt of services from Corporate & Institutional Banking and other Group functions.

      To ensure robust 1st Line Divisional Risk management, driving enhanced control environment for BCB within the integrated 3 lines of defence operating model providing clarity of responsibility and accountability between the BCB business, risk management and internal audit.

      What you’ll need

      • Excellent knowledge of the external market, supported by a strong awareness and understanding of LBG’s wider business and the economic environment in which we operate.
      • A strategic mentality, with a proven ability to translate complex business requirements into a clear operating model and plan.
      • Risk foresight with a strong ability to identify, assess, monitor, control, and mitigate risks to LBG.
      • First-class capability in financial analysis and control, with a strength for interpreting LBG’s financial information and extensive experience in running large budgets and complex financial issues.
      • An ability to assess, navigate and shape complex governance arrangements to deliver effective oversight and control of the Chief Operating Office and BCB.
      • Good awareness and understanding of the regulatory framework in which Lloyds Banking Group operates.

      And any experience of these would be really useful

      • A track record of delivery and sponsorship of large scale change programmes, in particular across complex organisations.
      • Strong communication skills and a great ability to influence at senior levels across all areas of the business.
      • Collaboration, both as a strong executive teammate and someone who is willing to take a broader view for the benefit of the wider enterprise.
      • Customer focus that shines through as a passion for service quality and sharp delivery.
      • Incisive analytical skills that help you to inform planning and decisions.
      • A proven ability to attract, manage, retain and lead Senior Executives.
