      Chief Operating Officer, Cromwell Hospital

      Cromwell Hospital, London SW5 0TU – 3-4 days working in the Cromwell

      Permanent role

      Competitive salary, plus bonus and car allowance

      This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Chief Operating Officer (COO) to join our prestigious hospital. The COO role is highly influential and is accountable for the strategic and operational delivery for Cromwell Hospital and other outpatient clinics including Basinghall and Harley Street. You will be working closely with the hospital CEO and other members of the executive team, ensuring the delivery of high quality, services that are innovative and responsive to patient, people, and consultant needs. It is a very exciting time to join the Cromwell, as we have made significant investment within the hospital.       The COO has a wide remit spanning growth and redevelopment, operational efficiency and effectiveness including optimisation of assets, procurement, billing, and front of house services. Through high performing teams the COO will ensure that the hospital delivers an excellent patient experience and sustainable business performance.

      This role will have overall accountability for all hospital operations teams (circa 400 people) and this will continue to grow through expansion.

      How you’ll help us make health happen:

      • Lead the delivery of performance targets through a culture of openness and transparency to ensure that patients’ interests are at the centre of service delivery
      • Leads and influences through direct reports, providing clear direction and expectations that are visible and understandable
      • Translation of the hospital strategy into a clear vision with action plans
      • Sets appropriate goals and KPI’s, utilising resources effectively to ensure plans are realised, communicating clearly and holding people to account
      • Builds a performance culture, which values innovation and drives continuous improvement
      • Must have awareness and understanding of the CQC and regulatory requirements and expectations relevant to your role.
      • Must be able to identify, assess, monitor, control and mitigate risks to Bupa
      • Ensure that major incident, business continuity and emergency planning arrangements are robust and fit for purpose
      • Develops a people strategy with the People Director that motivates and engages all levels within the full Operational Team. Builds a great place to work.
      • Develops great relationships with Consultants that are key opinion leaders and delivers on agreed plans
      • Working collaboratively with the CEO, Finance Director and Commercial Director alongside the MAB (Medical Advisory Board) and Clinical Leads to ensure that the hospital is optimised for the delivery of our strategy
      • Accountable for delivering on our NPS targets, with a relentless focus on patient experience and ongoing improvement.

      Key Skills/Qualifications needed for this role:

      • Extensive operational experience within the NHS or independent hospital sector with an ability to scale up as we continue growing the hospital and diagnostic footprint
      • Previous track record of pulling the relevant levers to optimise performance in a constantly changing environment
      • Significant healthcare knowledge and experience.
      • Prior experience of running an operational team and taking accountability for a P&L.
      • Strong experience of creating and leading high-performing teams / functions.
      • Experience of working in a highly regulated environment.
      • Experience of leading and working successfully in a large complex, matrix organisation.

      The successful candidate will be driven, ambitious and innovative with strong commercial acumen and a visible leader within the business. This is a senior management role within the Cromwell Executive Team.
