      Compensation: $125,000 - $145,000 annual salary

      Job Summary:

      The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a senior executive responsible for overseeing daily operations, demand planning, technology systems, and operational processes that drive revenue growth, customer satisfaction, and organizational scalability. Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO ensures the organization’s infrastructure, systems, and programs function seamlessly in alignment with its strategic vision and mission. This role also leads the organization’s digital transformation – requiring strong technological fluency and the ability to implement modern systems that improve efficiency, scalability, and user experience. The COO will help foster a high-performance, data-driven culture focused on operational excellence, continuous improvement, and enterprise risk management. This is an in-person role with the possibility for remote work 1-2 days a week depending on operational needs of the organization.


      Essential Duties:


      Program Revenue and Demand Planning:

      • Leads pricing, scheduling, resource allocation, and capacity management to optimize financial and participant outcomes.
      • Works closely with the marketing and program teams to implement targeted initiatives that increase participation.
      • Monitors and analyzes program performance to identify trends and opportunities for efficiency improvements.
      • Develops and executes operational strategies to drive program demand and maximize revenue while maintaining accessibility.

      Program Administration, Capacity Management, and Process Optimization

      • Leads digital transformation efforts for participant-facing and internal processes to enhance the customer experience journey and organizational efficiency.
      • Oversees program operations, ensuring seamless participant experiences and efficient resource utilization.
      • Aligns forward-looking capacity planning with program growth goals.
      • Implements scalable systems for program registration, scheduling, and participant communications.

      Operational Leadership and Facilities Management:

      • Oversees execution of day-to-day operations across all NAC campuses (Park City and Moab).
      • Leads the Building & Grounds team and manages facilities operations and expansions on all 3 campuses.
      • Directly supports the Program team with operations logistics for all programming activities.
      • Directly supports the Events team with event operations logistics for fundraising events and community engagement initiatives.
      • Implements systems and processes that enhance efficiency, accountability, and data-driven decision-making.

      Technology Leadership:

      • Leads the development and optimization of NAC’s technology stack to support scalability, data integrity, and efficiency.
      • Oversees IT team operations, including digital transformation initiatives, infrastructure improvements, and CRM management (Salesforce).


      Finance, Risk and Resource Management:

      • Partners with the CFO and finance team to develop and manage operating budgets for operational departments.
      • Ensures cost-effective use of resources, including facilities, equipment, and program assets.
      • Monitors financial performance of programs and implements strategies to enhance revenue streams.
      • Oversees operational risk management practices and collaborates on enterprise risk initiatives.
      • Manages organizational insurance programs.

      Team Leadership and Development:

      • Directly supervises department heads across Reservations & Guest Services, IT, and Buildings & Grounds; manages a team of 3-5 direct reports and 15+ staff members.
      • Fosters a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
      • Ensures all operational teams are equipped with the training, tools, and leadership to succeed.

      Requirements


      Minimum Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, nonprofit management, operations management, or a related field.
      • 5-10+ years of progressively responsible leadership experience in operations management, preferably in nonprofit, recreation, or service-based industries.
      • Demonstrated success in driving revenue through capacity management, pricing strategy, and customer experience optimization.
      • Strong experience leading cross-functional teams, organizational change, and process improvement.
      • Strong fluency in technology systems, CRM management, and digital transformation leadership.
      • Current first-aid and CPR certifications, or the ability to obtain them.
      • A valid driver's license.
      • Pass a pre-employment background check.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Nonprofit Management.
      • Lean Six Sigma certification or demonstrated process improvement expertise.
      • PMP (Project Management Professional) certification a plus.
      • Experience in adaptive recreation, outdoor industry, or large service-based program delivery.
      • Knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM/database systems.
      • Familiarity with managing corporate insurance programs and enterprise risk.
      • Proficiency with Salesforce, Microsoft Office, and database management.

      • Data-driven decision-making to optimize program participation, revenue, and operational performance.
      • Process improvement (Lean Six Sigma or similar) and project management expertise.

      • Excellent communication, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

      • Ability to prioritize work effectively and efficiently under pressure.
      • Ability to support program needs with a proactive and solution-oriented initiative.

      Working Conditions:

      • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. while assisting with operations, facility support, and special projects.
      • Occasional travel to the Moab location is required for operational support.
      • Available and willing to work a non-traditional schedule that may include occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays, especially as needed for projects and special events.
      • Ability to work indoors and outdoors while supporting operations, facilities, or special projects in various weather conditions, including extreme weather conditions.
