      Job Description

      Based at our North Sydney studios, we have an exciting and rare opportunity for a Chief Remote Pilot to join the Nine Broadcast Operations team.

      As the Chief Remote Pilot, you'll manage all aspects of our drone operations, ensuring top-tier video production. You'll liaise with key stakeholders, serving as the primary contact for CASA on regulatory matters. Additionally, you'll oversee pilot training, compliance, maintenance, and R&D. Acting as the main advisor to our air safety compliance group, you'll handle broader aviation requirements and communication with stakeholders and third-party suppliers for flight approvals.

      This role involves national travel for operations, training, audits, and compliance checks.

      Day to day responsibilities include but aren't limited to:

      • Manage RPAS operations and operators for a large fleet, ensuring compliance with regulations.
      • Develop and maintain regulatory responsibilities of the ReOC.
      • Coordinate training for remote pilot staff and ensure CASR compliance.
      • Serve as main contact for CASA and flight authorisation.
      • Advise Nine’s Aviation Safety Compliance Committee on requirements.
      • Oversee communication with third-party aviation due diligence suppliers.
      • Develop workflows and applications for safe and legal flight operations.
      • Maintain documentation, investigate incidents, and stay updated on regulatory changes.

      Qualifications

      We are looking for a candidate who can build strong relationships, is technically minded, drives safety first and brings to the role a positive attitude and upholds the values of Nine.

      What you will bring to the role:

      • CASA Approved Remote Pilot Licence (RePL) required.
      • Be approved as a Chief Remote Pilot through CASA assessment after starting the role
      • Proficient in computer literacy for reporting, data retrieval, file transfer, and software tools related to Remote Pilot operations.
      • Strong risk management skills, including hazard identification and mitigation.
      • Experience in television broadcasting.
      • Full driver's licence and ability to complete company-required Police checks.

      Desirable:

      • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent professional experience.
      • Previous experience as a Chief Remote Pilot.
