Job Description

- Establishment of the Branch Risk and Compliance Committee and the development of required reporting to the Committee
- Supporting the Senior Officer Outside Australia and Branch Manager in Australia to comply with their regulatory and governance duties
- Development of Annual Risk plan and delivering actions against the plan
- Promote continuous enhancement of Everest risk culture.
- Support the ongoing development, implementation and embedding of an increasingly sophisticated risk management framework while ensuring it meets the required Prudential standards set out by APRA.
- Lead the co-ordination of actions to address regulatory developments relating to risk management.
- Develop key risk indicators and risk dashboards to monitor risk profile and perform environment scans.
- Undertake deep dive reviews of selected risks within remit.
- Work in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders spanning senior leadership, department heads, and first line subject matter experts to provide risk management advice, support, oversight and challenge.
- Contribute to Group ERM initiatives, leveraging the benefit of local risk management expertise and deploying new Group ERM tools and developments, as appropriate.
- Produce risk management papers and reporting for Management, Risk Committee and Board, as required.
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of non-life insurance risks, including experience of APRA Requirements.

Everest launched its International Insurance strategy in 2022. Everest Insurance in AsiaPac is core to this strategy. Encompassing Everest International’s Australian and Asian region reporting to the Branch Manager of Australia, working a hybrid schedule of 3 days a week in the office, 2 days a week remote.
This new role has been created to support Everest’s rapidly growing International Insurance business. The role holder will support a varied and dynamic range of initiatives within the risk management function as Everest seeks to continually enhance risk management as an integral part of the International Insurance expansion strategy. The successful candidate will possess relevant industry experience, solid experience implementing best practice risk frameworks, excellent organizational skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, initiative, and excellent influencing skills.Reporting to the Branch Manager, the role holder will focus on establishing risk management frameworks for the branch and working with the business to develop solutions to address risk management framework enhancements required by regulators.
Collaborating with, and influencing, senior colleagues across multiple functional areas and international Everest offices, this role will have a high profile. As part of a rapidly growing business division, the role holder will have the opportunity to shape this role and the future development of the risk function. The successful candidate will provide risk-based insights to support Everest in making the right business and strategic decisions.
The role requires significant experience within the non-life insurance sector and in-depth understanding of non-life insurance and strategic risks. The role holder will be self-motivated and well-organised and able to manage and prioritise a broad range of activities in the context of a rapidly growing business.
