- The post holder will hold responsibility for assessing, developing and implementing specialist continence care programmes in community and clinic settings for children and young people, 5-19 years .
- They will be involved in developing and implementing education and training programmes for children parents/carers, and the multidisciplinary team
- Contribute towards EHC Plans for children in Blackpool Fylde and Wyre
- Provide evidence-based practice in line with NICE Guidance
- Have competence in reaching a diagnosis of patient symptoms and develop treatment plans accordingly
- Complete bladder scans and abdominal palpation in accordance with clinical guidelines
- Have competence in reaching a diagnosis of patient symptoms and treat according to treatment pathways.
- Refer children and young people to other specialists and agencies as appropriate.
- Work autonomously
- Refer to the Clinical Lead for more specialist advice and intervention, .
- Support junior staff and students.
- Support children and young people in transitioning to adult services , attending transition meetings and following the ready steady go transition framework.
- Develop, deliver, and implement specialist teaching programmes for clients, carers, Health Visitors and School Nurses
- Provide specialist continence advice and support for all staff involved in the care of children and young people with continence needs aged 5-19 years, focusing on the need to promote continence where it may be achieved.
- Refer children and young people to other specialists and agencies as appropriate.
- Work autonomously without direct supervision, accountable for own professional actions.
- Refer to the Clinical Lead if any issues require more specialist advice and intervention, thereby maintaining high service standards.
- Deal with patient complaints in a positive and sensitive way in accordance with Trust policy.
- Uphold a professional approach and maintain professional integrity at all times.
- Practice competencies developed, upholding the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.

Job summary
A specialist role as a paediatric continence nurse within a nurse led service involving the clinical assessment and management of childhood continence problems. Educating and supporting families so they can effectively manage and support their child's continence, enabling them to live and thrive in the community, achieving their full potential.
