Job summary
Physiotherapy Technical Instructor 18.75 hours per week
Due to upcoming retirement we are delighted to be able to advertise the post of Band 4 Physiotherapy Technical Instructor. This is a rare and exciting opportunity to work within this specialist area and to develop transferable skills. We are looking for an enthusiastic, well-motivated and flexible team member preferably with experience of working within physiotherapy and with children. The post will involve working alongside members of the Children's Physiotherapy Team but there will also be a degree of independent working.
Our physiotherapy team provide support to children and young people who need extra help to develop the skills needed to succeed and achieve in the community.
We believe in treating the whole person and provide flexible and holistic care.
The team is friendly and supportive and mentorship for this role will be available from the clinical staff.
Main duties of the job
You will carry out physiotherapy programmes and support carers to effectively use equipment such as standing frames and walking aids. You may train carers to carry out therapy interventions. You will work alongside qualified staff and other support staff. You will work with children with motor difficulties and disability in a range of settings including out patient clinics and in the community.

Job responsibilities
Carry out physiotherapy programmes delegated by physiotherapists, changing plans as required, discussing with physiotherapists if needed and keeping them informed of progress/regression.
Delegate to learning support assistants and carers and support them to carry out physiotherapy related tasks.
To make informed decisions about any change in a childs condition/circumstances when working without direct supervision and feedback to the supervising physiotherapist.
To deal with emergency situations requiring medical assistance e.g. epileptic fits by summoning professional help immediately.
Work with physiotherapists to apply evidence-based practice in the clinical setting.
To be involved in the assessment, monitoring and use of equipment such as standing frames and walking aids.
Monitor own treatment and effectiveness, sharing this information with the physiotherapy team, providing and receiving guidance where appropriate.
Monitor outcomes using accepted measures.
Accept personal responsibility for the actions and quality of own work, liaising with other senior staff.
