      Job summary

      Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people with autism? Come and join our friendly, supportive, and experienced multidisciplinary team as a Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist.

      We provide autism assessments across the BNSSG area, working in partnership with children, families, and professionals. As part of our team, you'll benefit from regular supervision, CPD opportunities, and a supportive leadership structure.

      Main duties of the job

      To carry out social communication observations and assessments in a clinic, educational settings or home setting

      To undertake ADOS assessments (if/when trained) for children and young people up to the age of 18 years (early years and school age)

      To carry out assessment of children with a complex social communication presentations as part of a multi professional team providing specialist clinical advice.

      To write contributions to diagnostic multidisciplinary reports and EHCP reports

      To carry out formal language assessments and interpret these results

      To take the lead where appropriate in feeding back assessment and diagnostic results to parents and young people

      To support other Speech and Language therapists and other professionals including Specialist Nurses, Paediatric Registrars, Early Years Practitioners and Psychology Assistants working as part of the ASD assessment team

      Essential

      • Degree or equivalent in Speech & Language Therapy
      • Registered with HCPC

      Desirable

      • ADOS training
      • Post graduate training appropriate to the field

      Skills, Experience and Knowledge

      Essential

      • Experience of carrying out formal language assessment with a wide age range
      • Ability to cover a wide patch if required
      • Experience of working with Children as a SALT
      • Experience of working as an autonomous practitioner e.g., caseload management, prioritising cases, effective organisation and time management skills
      • To be able to assess and provide intervention for more complex cases in area of speciality, with clinical support from more senior clinicians

      Desirable

      • Willing to learn and develop skills in Neurodiversity
      • Knowledge of Autism and differential diagnosis
