- Break news and write agenda-setting stories on metals production, pricing and trade flows
- Work closely with colleagues in China and globally, leveraging the power of the Reuters network
- Write stories that cut through industry jargon for both professional and media audiences
- Be able to connect the dots and explain the significance of industry and market developments
- Identify trends and explain them to a global audience
- Use graphics and other story-telling elements to maximize the utility of stories
- A track record of building sources and delivering scoops
- Experience covering metals or other commodity markets
- Experience as an effective team player, with strong communication skills
- Mandarin and English, with strong writing

China Metals Correspondent
Reuters is seeking an outstanding journalist with strong source-building skills, great story ideas and a track record of breaking news to join our team as China metals correspondent. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of the market dynamics of industrial metals including copper, nickel and lithium as well as China’s role as a top producer and consumer. Global interest in metals is high, as demand surges from new energy technologies and as rivalry between China and the west fuels an increasingly intense scramble to secure resources.
The China metals correspondent will get inside what is an often-opaque industry, digging out market moving stories that resonate with investors and industry participants as well as to a wider global audience.
