      We are looking to hire 2 full-time, virtual, Chiropractor-Clinical Reviewer positions with the Physical Medical and Rehabilitation service to perform Utilization Review (UR).

      Duties


      The Richmond VA Medical Center, located in Richmond, Virginia, is a level 1a 349-bed facility offering primary, secondary, and tertiary health care in medicine, surgery, neurology, rehabilitation medicine, intermediate care, acute and sustaining spinal cord injury, skilled nursing home care, and palliative care. The medical center has four community-based outpatient clinics located in Charlottesville, Fredericksburg, Emporia and Spotsylvania County, Virginia, and a strong and mutually beneficial affiliation with the Medical College of Virginia. Residency programs exist in virtually all general and specialty areas of medicine, rehabilitation, surgery, psychiatry, and dentistry. The medical center has an active cardiac transplantation program.

      Chiropractors-Clinical Reviewers utilize comprehensive knowledge of neuromusculoskeletal practice and Utilization Review (UR) procedures to manage and triage internal/external facility and Community Care consults and referrals. The primary role is to ensure efficient coordination of care, assess appropriate level of care, and champion compliance of established Veterans Health Administration (VHA) and Standardized Episode of Care (SEOC) guidelines.

      Qualifications


      Applicants pending the completion of educational or certification/licensure requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met.

      Basic Qualification:
      1. Citizenship: Citizen of the United States.
      2. English Language Proficiency: Doctors of chiropractic appointed to direct patient-care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English as required by 38 U.S.C. 7402(d) and 7407(d).
      3. Education: Degree of doctor of chiropractic, or its equivalent, resulting from a course of education in chiropractic. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools or colleges approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Approved schools are:
        1. United States schools or colleges of chiropractic listed as accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education, at http://www.cce-usa.org/, or equivalent agency, in the list published for the year in which the course of study was completed.
        2. Schools (including foreign schools) accepted by the licensing body of a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States (i.e., Puerto Rico), or in the District of Columbia as qualifying for full or unrestricted licensure.
      4. Licensure: Current, full and unrestricted license to practice
        chiropractic in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. The facility Director may waive this requirement if the doctor of chiropractic is to serve in a country other than the United States and the doctor of chiropractic has licensure in that country.
      5. Residents: Licensure in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia before completion of the first year of a VA residency. Unlicensed residents must meet any registration or other equivalent requirements established for chiropractic residents of non-VA facilities or chiropractic clinics with which the VA facility is affiliated for training purposes during the first year of VA residency.
      Preferred Experience:
      • Highly preferred - 2+ years of utilization review experience.
      • Experience working with virtual care platforms and electronic medical records.
      • Experience with data tracking and analysis to drive clinical metrics.
      • The ideal candidate will have experience working in the remote setting with minimal direct guidance/oversight of daily work but also expected to be highly collaborative with the parent station on-site clinician team and community care coordination team.

      Grade Determinations:

      Full Grade: Two years of full-time chiropractic practice or its equivalent. One year of full-time post-graduate residency specialty training from a chiropractic school or college accredited by the Council on Chiropractic Education, or equivalent agency approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, is acceptable in lieu of the 2 years of practice. Candidate must have demonstrated the professional competence and performance necessary to provide independently the full range of clinical diagnosis and chiropractic treatment for the most prevalent neuro-musculoskeletal conditions.

      Physical Requirements: The physician needs to be mobile in that the job requires: sitting, walking, standing, and bending. Selected applicant will be required to complete an online on-boarding process.
