- You will serve as a technical expert and provide structural engineering and design services to all activities and tenants for a broad range of facilities served by NAVFAC.
- You will provide independent, timely and professional specialized structural engineering products, services and consultation for the planning, design, construction and maintenance of facilities.
- You will serve as an expert in advanced structural engineering concepts, principles and practices as they apply to a wide range of shore facilities including piers, housing, medical facilities, and aviation facilities.
- You will lead multi-discipline design teams engaged in the design of complex projects.
- You will develop complex designs and analyses utilizing advanced structural Engineering software.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.

- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). Certification in the Acquisition Functional Area and category assigned to the position is required within established category timeframes.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
- You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You must possess and maintain current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE License).
- Applying advanced knowledge of structural engineering theories and principles to act as a regional expert and primary contact for design and construction projects.
- Applying innovative or experimental structural engineering theories to solve complex problems that traditional methods cannot effectively address.
- Using engineering expertise to evaluate customer needs and create innovative, effective solutions.
- Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of civil/structural engineering specifications, policies, industry codes, standards, and design practices.
- Possessing extensive knowledge of local, state, federal, and international laws, codes, and regulations that affect civil/structural engineering design across various regions.
- Interpreting related fields like architecture and other engineering disciplines to understand their impact on structural engineering design.

Qualifications
This position has a Selective Placement Factor (SPF). You must have a current registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) from any state, the District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico. If you meet this requirement, you must provide a copy of your current registration with your application. A copy of a wall certificate that does not show current registration status will not serve to verify you meet this requirement.
In addition to the SPF, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing the following duties:
