The Claims Adjuster independently manages INTEGRIS Health insurance claims, and analyzes INTEGRIS Health liability, engages in continuous risk prevention and mitigation strategies. INTEGRIS Health is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
Qualifications
• Oklahoma Insurance Adjusters License
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Knowledge of legal, medical and insurance terminology, policies, and regulations
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office
• 5 years experience in insurance, legal or health care industry
• Excellent communication skills and must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbal/written)
• Attention to detail and ability to interpret complex information
• Strong analytical and investigative skills
• Ability to work independently and make decisions based on sound judgement
• This job requires the incumbents to operate an INTEGRIS-owned vehicle OR personal vehicle (non INTEGRIS-owned) and therefore must have a current Oklahoma State Drivers License as well as a driving record which is acceptable to our insurance carrierResponsibilities
The Claims Adjuster responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Assists the VP of Risk Management in monitoring, evaluating and documenting potential claims, open claims and lawsuits in order to identify opportunities for improvement, mitigation and potential financial impact for all areas of service.
• Ability to independently adjust and manage primarily general liability, auto, property and other lines of insurance claims by investigating, analyzing, and evaluating exposures, and bringing cases to timely resolutions in compliance with INTEGRIS Health claims expectations and guidelines
• Establishes reserves and authorizes payments within established reserving authority limits
• Ability to independently and effectively communicate with others both internal and external to the organization.
• Ability to identify and escalate concerns to appropriate leadership
• Evaluate primary and excess insurance coverage. Report exposures to excess carriers promptly and in accordance with excess carrier reporting requirements. Provide updates to excess carriers
• Independently prepare and send monthly and quarterly loss run reports in accordance with claims guidelines
• Expected to work within the risk management database including maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, problem-resolution, reporting problems to appropriate personnel and assists in follow up activities as needed.
• Identifies risk and liability concerns associated with the INTEGRIS Health System by reviewing safety reports, medical records, manager reports and customer feedback on a daily basis.
• Ability to respond to risk management related issues, events and claims with recommendations that will minimize the financial loss to the organization.
• Responds to risk and liability inquiries from customers/ patients not represented by counsel.
• Coordinates & performs educational sessions for targeted audiences regarding risk reduction strategies.
• The Claims Adjuster reports to the VP of Risk Management. This position may have additional or varied physical demand and/or respiratory fit test requirements.
