This position offers the potential to telework after successful training in the office. The duration of training varies, could be only a week for a quick learner with demonstrated knowledge and accuracy. Work hours are Monday – Friday, starting as early as 7:00am, ending no later than 5:30pm. Work schedule of routine 40 hours per week must be approved by Management.

You have good interpersonal skills to communicate with coworkers, internal and external customers, and possess the ability to perform duties involving close attention to detail.WHAT YOU WILL DO:
The Claims Processor I works primarily processing appeal hearings for the Appeals Department. The Appeals department holds and hears first level appeals form the original determination in disputed claims for unemployment insurance benefits under the Texas Unemployment Compensations Act; and disputed claims for unemployment insurance under specific federal programs. Upon request the Appeals Department may also be called upon to hold other special hearings. The hearings are mandated by state law and are to be held in a fair and impartial manner. Performs routine (journey-level) administrative support work. Works under moderate supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.YOU WILL BE TRUSTED TO:
-Perform routine administrative support work in the implementation of the appeals process in the Unemployment Insurance (UI) program.
-Provide information regarding appeal status and responds to policy and procedures inquiries by researching laws, regulations, policies, and precedent.
-Review and process appeal decisions.
-May assist in implementing the appeal decision.
-Use personal computer (PC) and TWC records to analyze appeals to determine appropriate issues, parties, and scheduling considerations for administrative hearings.
-Enter appropriate information into Appeals case processor program to produce Notice of Hearing letters.
-Request records required for appeal hearings.
-Perform other duties as assigned, which may include cross training to assist other units as need arises.YOU QUALIFY WITH:
-Graduation from an accredited high school or successful completion of GED certification, plus one year of full-time experience that provided knowledge of administrative support functions and office practices and procedures, or clerical administration and business management practices, such as preparation, maintenance and control of forms, records and reports.
-Fifteen semester hours of accredited college work may be substituted for six months of experience.
-Six months of full-time in-service experience classified as an Administrative Assistant I with regular status will satisfy the minimum qualifications.YOU ARE A GREAT FIT WITH:
-Knowledge of unemployment insurance laws, rules, and regulations and of the appeals process.
-Knowledge of office practices and administrative procedures.
-Attention to details and accuracy of date-sensitive material involved.
