      JOB SUMMARY:

      The purpose of this role is perform cardiac monitoring duties and perform monitoring of patients identified as a risk for falls from a remote location. in a critical care nursing department and/or unit. Incumbents are distinguished by the specialized duties they perform in the critical care environment related to arrhythmia interpretation and clinical monitoring/alarm safety and monitoring patients for falls. In addition to these specialized duties and responsibilities, typical responsibilities include forms management, and inter/intra-departmental communications.

      JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

      EDUCATION:

      High school diploma, GED or equivalent required

      EXPERIENCE:

      2 years’ experience in healthcare

      PREREQUISITE SKILLS

      • Ability to communicate clearly and work tactfully and effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, co-workers and other hospital staff.

      • Ability to work effectively as a team member and contribute positively towards the goals of the team and the organization.

      • Ability to read, speak, write, understand and follow English verbal and written instructions.

      • Demonstrated knowledge in arrhythmia interpretation as validated in the successful completion of arrhythmia interpretation written examination upon hire.

      • Knowledge of medical terminology.

      • Obtains verbal report from the patient’s nurse to include information regarding the patient’s identified care needs, diagnosis, visual, auditory, or language barriers as well as any special considerations (bed alarms, etc.)

      • Ensures complete visualization of the patient via remote monitoring equipment.

      • Obtains instructions via the RN regarding ambulation limitations and course of action for redirection of patient if needed.

      • Observes the patient’s activity and behavior and redirects the patient as needed.If indicated, immediately notifies floor staff of the need for physical intervention (such as toileting assistance, assisting patient to lie back in bed, moving an item closer, etc.).

      • Ability to identify safety risks and communicate the need to escalate assistance to the patient.

      • Offers support and feedback to peers and staff. Applies principles of caring and healing with patients and families and with colleagues.

      • Complies with all hospital rules, regulations, and nursing standards. Performs related duties as assigned.

      LICENSE/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATION:

      • Completion of an EKG monitoring class required

      DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      ESSENTIAL (not modifiable)

      • Prints cardiac rhythms and hemodynamic waveforms for interpretation by RN
      • Notifies RN or Charge RN of changes in cardiac or hemodynamic status observed on Central Station
      • Admits/transfers/discharges cardiac monitored patients in Central Monitoring station
      • Provides timely written communication within the team.
      • Must be able to successfully complete competencies for the position within the designated probationary time period.
      • Excellent communication skills both oral and written.
      • Proficiency working with computers, software and equipment required
      • Technical savvy, ability to confidently communicate over speaker and video camera.
      • Strong critical problem solving skills.

The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on the individual’s skills, experience, internal/market equity factors, and qualifications. This posted minimum and maximum range represents the minimum and maximum of what we reasonably expect to compensate for the position. Furthermore, all compensation decisions are ultimately determined in accordance with our compensation philosophy. Compensation for positions covered by collective bargaining agreements are governed by the agreements in the aforementioned document.
