Job Description

- Receive and receipt money in STARS for processing offense and accident reports
- Process payroll in STARS, and maintain payroll files
- Maintain filing system of memoranda, letters, documents and other materials for assigned duty section
- Answer telephones, take messages, provide information, and refer inquiries to appropriate locations
- Type and distribute reports and correspondence; enters computer data
- Comply with civil service, departmental, bureau and division rules, regulations and standard operating procedures
- Perform other assignments and duties as required and/ or necessary
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- A minimum of one (1) year of clerical, administrative, or customer service paid work experience in an office environment
- Must pass the HCSO Clerical Skills Test pre-employment testing with a minimum overall score of 75%, and score a typing speed of 35 w.p.m with 85% accuracy. (Additional testing or a higher score may be required for specific assignments)
- Department organization and Harris County structure JWEB, RMS, STARS, TeleStaff, Superion, and LENS
- Proficient in the use of standard office software programs such as MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Handle sensitive information with discretion and exercise confidentiality
- Prepare correspondence, and reports and assist in the processing of documents promptly as required
- Communicate effectively with the public, representatives of state agencies, other law enforcement agencies, and staff members
- Effectively communicate, answer telephone calls, take messages, and provide information in a concise manner
- Handle multiple projects simultaneously, keep organized and accurate records
- Multi-task in a fast-paced environment and prioritize to meet deadlines
- Present a professional image as a representative of the Harris County Sheriff's Office
- Work in a team environment with varying personalities
- Work cooperatively with others
- Work overtime and/ or varying duty hours as deemed necessary; an excellent attendance record
- Bilingual
- Associates Degree
- Knowledge of Superion
- Knowledge of CRIS
- Has an active notary stamp

Under the direct supervision of the Administrative Sergeant, the incumbent will perform clerical and administrative duties to support District 3 Patrol. As well as, but not limited to assisting the citizens of Harris County with law enforcement related tasks, questions and/ or concerns.
