      Duty Days: 197 (7.5hrs/day)

      Wage/Hour Status: Non-Exempt

      Pay Grade: AS01

      Qualifications:

      College hours, high School diploma or GED

      Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and file maintenance (preferred)

      Ability to use PC and software for student discipline

      Ability to read and understand documents including policies and procedures manuals

      Ability to receive and give written and verbal instructions

      Effective and efficient organizational skills

      Exceptional communication skills

      Acceptable driving record as defined by TxDPS and Katy ISD

      Pass annual physical in accordance with state law

      Negative result on drug and/or alcohol test administered as pre-employment, random, post accident and/or reasonable suspicion basis, in accordance with federal law and district policy

      Able to obtain all Bus Driver qualifications, including Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with appropriate endorsements and School Bus Driver Certification, within three months of hire date

      Able to communicate in English in both written and oral

      Able to read and interpret maps and routes

      Able to climb in and out of all school bus emergency exits

      Primary Purpose:

      Monitor and maintain the discipline management system as it relates to student transportation. Monitor and maintain communication between campuses, parents and Transportation in relation to student transportation discipline. Monitor and assist Transportation and campus administrators with the functions of the eight-camera bus security system and provide reports as needed. Safely drive students to and from school on a schedule assigned by the Transportation Department. Safely transport students and staff to and from district sanctioned activities. Always act in the best interest of the district, the students and the community.

      Major Duties and Responsibilities:

      1. Prepare for distribution correspondence, reports, and documents in relation to student discipline from and between bus drivers, campuses, parents and driver manager.
      2. Daily communication with bus drivers and campus personnel.
      3. Maintain all discipline related files.
      4. Monitor and maintain functions of the eight-camera bus security system.
      5. Coordinate with Transportation management and campus personnel in retrieval of video surveillance files as needed.
      6. Maintain filing system of video surveillance files.
      7. Report and coordinate with requisite Transportation personnel any repairs for the eight-camera bus security system.
      8. Processing SMART Tag student relating data.
      9. Process and send Reports as needed.
      10. Operate any Katy ISD school bus and related equipment in a safe and efficient manner while following all traffic laws, district policies, district regulations and Transportation Department regulations.
      11. Provide support, as needed, to other positions in the Transportation Department.
      12. Other duties as assigned.

      Equipment Used:

      Video surveillance equipment, radio communication equipment, multi-line phone system, personal computer, copier/fax/scanner, calculator. Transportation related equipment, wheel chair lift, securements. School buses, emergency equipment (triangle reflectors, fire extinguisher, bodily fluids kit, etc.) and district vehicles.

      Working Conditions:

      Maintain emotional control under stress. Continual sitting. Repetitive hand and arm motions. Occasional exposure to noise, extreme temperatures and vehicle fumes. Work outside and inside, around moving objects, vehicles, and machinery with moving parts. Exposed to heat, dampness and humidity, toxic chemicals, exhaust fumes, gasoline, and diesel fuel. Prolonged driving and sitting. Irregular hours and occasional prolonged hours.
