      Purpose of Job:

      • Responsible for carrying out I.E. requests in a prompt and efficient manner while ensuring that ScotiaMcLeod Inc. policies and industry
      • regulations are adhered to;
      • Monitoring account activities to ensure compliance with accounting principles, company policies and industry regulations
      • Providing administrative support for front office staff, with the goal of ensuring excellent and timely approvals and processing of requests for ScotiaMcLeod clients
      • Liaising with investment teams and effectively communicating policies to establish cooperation and compliance.

      Key Accountabilities

      • Authorize withdrawals of cash and/or securities from client accounts in accordance with established IIROC and firm policies and procedures;
      • Approve transfers of money and securities between internal accounts;,
      • Approve foreign exchange conversions;
      • Complete sundry duties as assigned.
      • Provide continuing education for the Sales force, identify problems and ensure appropriate follow-up;
      • Assist with the training/cross-training and provision of guidance to personnel

      Functional Competencies

      • Solid accounting, bookkeeping and PC skills;
      • Ability to take initiative and employ creative problem solving skills;
      • Ability to exercise sound judgment in the interpretation of data and instructions
      • Ability to work independently within a team environment
      • Ability to assess situations requiring escalation to management
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
      • Flexibility to handle fluctuations in volume of work depending on peak time, vacation time of colleagues.

      Educational Requirements

      • High school education, preferable post-secondary education.
      • Complete of Canadian Securities course.
