- Language Requirement: Various language requirements, locations may require English only, French only OR Bilingual competencies. Some positions require English oral, reading, and writing. Some positions required French oral, reading and writing.

The Community & Social Services department is responsible for creating a strong social infrastructure by providing support to families and individuals in need in order to promote their self-reliance and quality of life, in collaboration with community partners. This includes providing financial assistance, housing, childcare, employment, personal care services, information and referral.
You are a first point of contact for new and/or existing human service clients for providing integrated front-line service and support with social services offered by the City and community. You support clients/families with system navigation to understand and access social services and programs to meet their identified needs.
You are responsible for collaborating with departmental staff to support case management at various stages in the delivery of community and social services; verifying eligibility and granting benefits for ongoing cases; processing requests from clients for payment of arrears, mandatory and discretionary items, as well, payments to vendors in accordance with departmental policies and procedures and in consultation with staff with decision making authority; providing information to clients with regards to programs and services offered by the Department as well as the community; utilizing local, provincial and federal information systems for processing, validating and recording client information; liaising internal and external service providers and third parties including government agencies, employers, trainers and the general public; and contributing to the overall improvement of service delivery and the operation of the work unit.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Completion of Grade 12
Minimum of 4 years of clerical experience of which 2 years is in a social services setting.
