      Job Description

The Business Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring successful business operations and support of Assurance products, including the DealShield DS360 Return Guarantee. This individual is also responsible for managing and growing relationships with third-party, wholesale auctions and acts as the liaison between DealShield’s core operations and third-party auction constituents, a key growth area for DealShield.

The person in this role has both operational and strategic responsibilities. The individual owns and ensures healthy relationships with external auctions and is responsible for the operational and financial performance of these auctions. The individual manages the auction onboarding process across DealShield and auction support teams, including conducting in-person trainings at new auctions during auction onboarding and providing on-site support when DealShield launches at a new auction.

The role is a critical bridge between Assurance Leadership and the third-party auction teams. The individual also works closely with internal DealShield functions, including technology, finance, marketing, sales, risk analytics, business operations, customer management, and customer service. As such, the individual is a key ‘problem solver’ for issues that come up on a day-to-day basis.

Candidates should thrive in a metrics-driven environment and have a solid understanding of automotive, business operations, financial, and technology functions. They should be comfortable working in a true team environment that is fast-paced and dynamic and will be expected to juggle many initiatives and efforts in parallel. Structured organization and thinking are a must, as they will coordinate cross-functional initiatives. At the same time, great relationship skills and strong software proficiency are imperative. Candidates must demonstrate effective communication, genuine interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a diverse team environment with individuals and groups across DealShield, Cox Automotive, Manheim Auctions and external auctions.

      • Strategic/Relationship Management
        • Maintain/build relationships and trust with independent auction representatives
        • Serve as primary point of contact for multiple third-party, independent auctions
        • Manage new auction onboarding
        • Train new auctions in-person on DealShield operations
        • Listen and understand auction needs, crafting solutions within the parameters of DealShield’s product portfolio and strategic objectives
        • Represent DealShield to clients/dealers in the field and leverage firsthand learnings to incrementally improve DealShield’s approach
      • Operational Management
      • Coordinate teams to solve day-to-day issues that arise within normal auction operations
      • Monitor financial performance of external auctions and address issues
      • Ensure efficient and appropriate administration of DealShield products
      • Manage existing business rules and operating procedures that support these business lines and manage business rules exceptions; ensure rules documents are updated and maintained
      • Respond to team requests and needs; anticipate situations and act proactively
      • Own daily administrative and support tasks within the Business Operations support queue
      • Personal Leadership & Ambassadorship
      • Self-manage time and tasks, setting priorities based on need, urgency and strategic importance
      • Follow-through on commitments to others on the Cox Automotive Assurance team
      • Gain a thorough understanding of Assurance Solutions, its products and services, and its goals, objectives, and performance
      • Embrace discussion and feedback by and from all team members to encourage participation and buy-in; be open, honest and direct in a respectful manner
      • Perpetuate a culture of personal responsibility and accountability
      • Make time for learning and professional growth
      • Demonstrate DealShield’s culture and values, including the philosophies of teamwork, respect, and caring for others

      Required Experience & Specialized Knowledge/Skills

      • BA/BS degree and 6 years experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work related experience.
      • 4-6 years of experience preferred in automotive, business operations, project management, technology, or finance
      • Previous experience and comfort presenting to and training groups
      • Highly detail-oriented individual with proven operational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
      • Excellent proficiency with software tools including Microsoft Office Suite and Salesforce
      • Ability to grasp technical functionality and designs and translate to business users
      • Possesses experience in one or more Operations disciplines such as project management, launch management, or process improvement
      • Ability to work independently and proactively to develop solutions with minimal guidance
      • Self-starter with flexibility and willingness to balance multiple changing priorities, initiatives and programs under very tight deadlines
      • Strong teamwork ethics, including willingness to share information and communicate in an open, honest and direct manner
      • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with proven ability to influence others without authority
