      Overview. The U.S. Global Change Research Programs (USGCRP) National Coordination Office (NCO) seeks to hire an early career professional with experience related to environmental policy or climate change. This position’s primary responsibility would be coordination support to USGCRP’s interagency groups related to providing climate services and translating research to actionable information.

      The USGCRP coordinates and integrates global change research and supporting activities conducted by 15 Federal Agencies and Departments. It is overseen by the Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) of the Executive Office of the President, and by representatives from the 15 agencies. The day-to-day activities and operations of the USGCRP are facilitated by the USGCRP NCO, which is responsible for promoting interagency coordination and integration of Federal climate and global change research programs and facilitating international cooperation.

      Key Responsibilities for the Successful Candidate
      Coordination and support of climate services interagency groups (IG). Tasks include:

      • Providing facilitation and logistical support to USGCRP leadership.

      • Working with Federal leadership of climate services coordination bodies to conceptualize, plan, and execute working group meetings, including scheduling, materials development and distribution, and follow-up.

      • Providing logistic, technical and communication support for any activities (e.g. webinars, workshops, publication development) that the groups may undertake.

      • Liaising and fostering coordination, as requested, with related USGCRP efforts in areas like engagement to inform climate services and with other Federal groups working in related areas.

      Minimum Qualifications

      • Bachelor’s degree and academic related experience in the areas of climate change-related research, services, and/or policy (i.e., internship) or associate degree plus 2 years of professional full-time experience in climate-related research, services, and/or policy.

      • US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident (not open to sponsorship, including OPT).

      • Open to travel

      Preferred Qualifications

      • Bachelor's degree plus up to 1 year maximum of professional and/or academic related experience in climate-related research, climate services, and/or climate policy OR associate degree plus 2 minimum and up to 3 years maximum of professional and/or academic related experience in climate-related research, climate services, and/or climate policy.

      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

      • Strong team orientation with a focus on collaboration.

      • Strong organizational and writing skills, time management skills, and superior attention to detail.

      • Skilled at asking questions and understanding varying needs and perspectives of coworkers and diverse stakeholders.

      • Ability to think creatively and provide innovative solutions to engagement and communication challenges.

      • Excellent interpersonal (verbal, written), and organizational skills, with ability to prioritize and manage multiple priorities at a given time while interacting with multidisciplinary teams to achieve project goals.

      • Experience in group coordination or facilitation preferred.

      Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location, education and certifications as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position. The pay range for this position is:

      $52,488.00 - $89,230.00
