      Job summary

The South Wales Doctoral Training Programme in Clinical Psychology: Clinical Academic (£54,550 - £61,412) or Senior Clinical Academic Tutor/s (£63,149 - £73,378)

The South Wales Doctoral Training Programme in Clinical Psychology is seeking to appoint new members of staff due to further increases in trainee numbers. Due to increased funding and cohort sizes, we have up too 1.3 fte hours available. The posts are available at agenda for change (A4C) grade 8a (£54,550-£61,412) or 8b (£63,149- £73,378) depending on experience. The posts will be part-time at approximately 0.6fte(although there is some flexibility for lesser hours).

In addition, if required we would assist a successful candidate wishing to work full-time to find additional clinical sessions in one of our collaborating NHS Health Boards.

      Main duties of the job

The posts involve acting as an appraisal tutor (line-manager of trainee clinical psychologists) and provider of research supervision (either as a primary or secondary supervisor). As such we have posts that will be of interest to staff with research interests or/and interests in supporting development of trainees on placement. The posts are open to HCPC registered practitioner psychologists with backgrounds in any specialism, although we are particularly keen to attract candidates with additional experience in Older Adult Services. We are keen to attract both candidates with interest in developing a research portfolio or ideally with demonstratable research expertise or/and with experience of supervising trainees. As the programme supports secondary accreditation, we are keen to attract staff with either BABCP or AFT accreditation. For 8b appointments there would be expectation of leading on specific administrative aspects of the programme such as chairing one of the programmes subcommittees or leading on an area of programme delivery.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
