What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Secure medical authorizations from third-party payers for chemotherapy treatments
- Obtain and submit clinical documentation for authorization requests, including correct CPT and ICD coding
- Research payer policies and submit pre-certification requests in compliance with their requirements
- Communicate with medical staff and patients regarding authorization status and outcomes
- Maintain accurate records of authorization requests and outcomes in financial systems
What is Required (Qualifications):
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital, medical office, or health insurer setting
- Excellent time management, organizational, research, analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Ability to maintain patient privacy and confidentiality while processing authorization requests
- Fire Life Safety Training certification required within 30 days of hire (for LA City only)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Vocational Nursing Degree or specialized technical training
- Experience with medical prior authorizations or claims in a managed care setting
- Knowledge of the health insurance industry and claims processing
- Oncology experience is a plus
- Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) certification in California
