Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Biochemistry Clerk to join a friendly and enthusiastic team within Pathology at Prince Charles Hospital. The post holder will provide administrative support to the clinical, scientific and clerical staff within the Clinical Biochemistry department. Main duties of the job
Provide clerical services to the Clinical Biochemistry Department maintaining strict confidentiality
To ensure that data input into hospitals IT systems meets the health board standards of data quality and accuracy.
To ensure telephone queries are responded to in a timely manner and at all times deliver courteous, friendly and efficient service.
To ensure that appropriate action is taken with regards to e-mail/telephone queries in a timely fashion.
To ensure telephoned results are given accurately to the appropriate person following department procedures and documenting the call within the laboratory IT system.
To be responsible for maintaining filing systems in use in the department.
To become familiar with the role of the secretarial staff in order to provide cover during times of absence.
Merge maintenance of the Clinical Biochemistry patient database using the hospital Myrddin system.
Entering and receipting of departmental orders using Oracle.
Scanning of departmental documentation upon request.
Provide clerical assistance for departmental and clinical audit.
To input patient details for a variety of test requests, from clinical sources into the Trakcare (LIMS) in various formats.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
