      Job summary

      Barnsley Healthcare Federation is seeking a part time (full time would be considered) Clinical Coder to support our 4 practices from a central base. BHF operates a cohesive and sustainable primary and social care model, designed to enhance patient experiences.

      The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Clinical Coder or similar position, have a good general education. We are seeking someone who has good teamwork, a patient focused outlook and high attention to detail.

      There is some flexibility in the days and hours offered for the right candidate, however please note you must be available on Mondays and Fridays.

      Main duties of the job

      Clinical coding of patient medical records from hospital clinical correspondence.

      Review patient records and accurately produce a summary of the patients medical history.

      Accurately read-coding data on SystmOne into the patient record

      Identifying relevant clinical information documented in patient correspondence, coding appropriately and completing any detailed actions.

      Review all clinical letters ensuring they are processed appropriately, in line with protocols.

      Reviewing progress of summarising, ensuring practice targets are achieved.

      File and store records as required.

      Photocopy documentation as required.

      Action all incoming emails and mail in a timely manner.

      Scanning of patient related documentation and attaching scanned documents to patient healthcare records.

      Input and extract data as required to support practice reports.

      Maintain a clean, tidy, effective working area at all times.

      Open and Close the premises with colleagues.

      Support the reception with other duties as may be required at busy periods including:

      o Answering incoming phone queries.

      o Deal with visiting patients and handle their queries.

      o Complete workflow and system tasks

      o Handle prescriptions, appointment bookings, and patient registrations

      o Prepare clinical rooms.

      • Proven experience of working in an office environment in an administrative/secretarial role, including maintaining databases.
      • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
      • Experience of using Office computer programs including Excel, Word and Outlook.
      • Ability to draft and compile reports.
      • Ability to liaise with all levels of staff and the public in a confident and effective manner.
      • Ability to manage and prioritise own workload.
      • Ability to produce good quality correspondence and reports.
      • Ability to minute meetings.

      Desirable

      • Data analysis and interpretation skills.
      • Full UK driving licence.
