      What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
      - Code and abstract diagnoses and procedures from inpatient and outpatient medical records for reimbursement and quality reporting
      - Assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes and DRGs for inpatient medical records, and CPT codes for outpatient records
      - Review medical records for clinical pertinence and ensure accurate documentation
      - Communicate with medical staff for clarification and education on documentation
      - Maintain compliance with CE credits and coding standards set by the American Health Information Management Association

      What is Required (Qualifications):
      - Associate or bachelor's degree
      - Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
      - Thorough working knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT coding systems, and DRG systems
      - Familiarity with hospital information systems and electronic medical records
      - Knowledge of medical-legal rules governing confidentiality and release of medical information

      How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
      - Experience in a healthcare coding role, particularly in a hospital setting
      - Familiarity with JCAHO standards for chart completion
      - Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
      - Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
      - Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
