      PRIMARY FUNCTION:

      To abstract, interpret and/or present Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) data for assigned database, registry, and/or peer case review to assist the assigned departments with continuous quality improvement initiatives and optimal health outcomes for targeted patient population.

      PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

      Collects and submits accurate, complete, and timely data into the program’s database to support organizational and/or service-line quality measures

      Adheres to standardized inclusion/exclusion of data, per the data dictionary definition. Supports the care standardization of processes.

      Remains current on changes to data dictionaries and processes to meet the regulatory requirements.

      Utilizes basic understanding of ICD-10 coding in daily work routine.

      Maintains competency and proficiency in Power Chart, registry, and event reporting platforms/applications specific to duties assigned

      Achieves and maintains certification for registry, as required

      Maintains competency and proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, TEAMS, Outlook, Word)

      Performs (in a timely manner) concise case reviews on adverse outcomes (defined within the clinical registry) and prepares Event Reports, as applicable

      Prepares routine and ad hoc reports that present data in an understandable and actionable format to support strategic initiatives.

      Creates, evaluates, and maintains databases and records to support established goals.

      Demonstrates ability to learn and utilize new technology and/or software applications and assimilate them into daily work routine.

      Organizes a work plan to achieve assigned project goals or implements an established work plan; makes suggestions to improve efficiency of work.

      Maintains a collaborative professional working relationship with peers, supervisors, clinical and administrative staff as necessary to gather data.

      Assists in the identification of issues with data collection methods; Assures methods for collection meet/exceed accreditation, regulatory, and institutional standards.

      Establishes and performs quality control checks for assigned databases.

      Maintains confidentiality of patient/members and staff information; compliant with HIPAA regulations.

      Maintains required credentials and certifications; Assume responsibility for ongoing professional growth.

      SCOPE, PURPOSE, AND FREQUENCY OF CONTACTS:

      Maintains contact with program/project managers, service line leaders and quality officers, Clinical Effectiveness teams (DIA, Pt Safety & Accreditation), Legal/Risk, Health Information Management (HIMS), Information Technology (IT), as well as external vendors and/or organizations for the development and ongoing operation of assigned registries.

      EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

      Delaware RN license or compact state RN license

      Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field, or enrollment in a Bachelor program, is required.

      Knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy required.

      Three (3) years of clinical nursing experience working within a hospital’s surgical unit or surgi-center required; Experience with adult vascular surgery cases preferred.

      Master’s degree, preferred

      Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPHQ), preferred

      Lean Six Sigma Certification, preferred

      Proficiency in navigating an Electronic Health Record

      Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications (Excel, TEAMS, Outlook, Word)

      An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted .

      Preferred experience: clinical registries, clinical data abstraction, quality assurance, performance Improvement, disease processes and regulatory/accreditation.

      SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

      Delaware RN license or compact state RN license

      Flexibility and emotional stability to work under intense time and volume pressures
