What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review concurrent medical record for compliance including completeness and accuracy for severity of illness (SOI), risk of mortality (ROM) and quality
- Complete accurate and timely record review to ensure integrity of documentation compliance
- Recognize opportunities for documentation improvement using critical-thinking skills
- Transcribe documentation clarifications for SOI, ROM, PSI, HCCs, and HACs
- Educate members of the patient-care team regarding documentation regulations and guidelines
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication skills
- Organize and present information clearly and concisely
- Minimum of five years acute care nursing experience
- Current active State license as a Registered Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, Physician’s Assistant or an unlicensed physician
- Knowledge of pathophysiology, disease processes, and treatments
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- 0-2 years of experience as a Clinical Documentation Specialist
- Proficient in physician relations
- Strong critical-thinking and deductive-reasoning skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
