What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) to ensure accurate assignment of ICD-10-CM diagnosis codes and ICD-10-PCS procedure codes
- Collaborate with providers, Clinical Documentation Specialists, and other multidisciplinary teams to optimize documentation accuracy
- Validate and revise codes assigned by computer-assisted coding software based on clinical coding regulations and provider documentation
- Maintain coding quality and productivity standards of ? 95% while staying updated with regulatory changes
- Prepare ad-hoc reports and provide educational training for coding and ICD-10/DRG code assignment
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Minimum 5 years of coding experience in an inpatient hospital setting with ICD-10-CM/PCS medical coding
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or Health Information Management is highly preferred
- Certification as a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) is highly desired
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and disease processes
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint)

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting
