What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review inpatient admissions to identify missing or incomplete documentation
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to facilitate comprehensive health record documentation
- Utilize hospital's clinical documentation system to conduct reviews and identify opportunities for clarification
- Apply knowledge of ICD-10 coding guidelines to assign working MS-DRG
- Communicate with providers regarding missing, unclear, or conflicting health record documentation
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Certified Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Technician (RHIT), or an associate degree in a health care related discipline with Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certification
- Minimum of 3 years medical coding experience
- RN current license or RHIA/RHIT/CCS certification
- Must acquire CCDS or CDIP certification within 3 years of hire
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- CCDS or CDIP Certification
- One year CDI experience
