      Job summary

      **This position is open to current staff employed at East Cheshire NHS Trust**

      East Cheshire NHS Trust is recruiting for an exciting opportunity within Undergraduate Medical Education. We are seeking a new Clinical Education Fellow to join our established team, supporting the delivery of medical education to students from both the University of Manchester & the University of Buckingham.

      The role involves contributing to the delivery of high-quality medical education in a safe & supportive environment, enabling students to meet their learning outcomes, enhance their clinical reasoning & assessment skills & progress toward greater independence in their medical training.

      The post-holder will also be expected to work on the wards in an educational capacity at least once per week for a minimum of 1PA, supporting student learning in the clinical setting. This may include:

      • Facilitating student participation in ward rounds/supporting communication & examination skills practice /delivering bedside and opportunistic teaching/assisting students in performing clinical skills & achieving required sign-offs.

      • Current clinical departments requiring additional educational support include Respiratory (wd 11), Gastroenterology (wd 3) & Endocrinology (wd 7). Exact hours & rota for these sessions can be reviewed on discussion with the successful applicant

      Hours per week: 37.5

      Main duties of the job

      • Active contribution to delivery of medical student teaching.

      • Ensuring all teaching content is aligned with the relevant university curricula and GMC Medical Licensing Assessment (MLA) requirements.

      • Acting as examiner for mock and end of year OSCE examinations in Manchester,Crewe and/or Buckingham campus*

      • Engaging with quarterly meetings with Clinical Education Fellows and faculty at other LEPs for both University of Manchester and University of Buckingham, some of which may be off site*

      • Identifying student concerns and escalating these appropriately to the senior education team to ensure timely support and providing pastoral support to students.

      • Supporting clinical supervisors with assessments, development plans, and up-skilling initiatives across multiple learner cohorts

      • Taking shared responsibility for fair and equal allocation of teaching sessions across the Education Fellow team

      • Actively participating in PGME and UGME team meetings

      • Engaging in Quality Improvement and Assurance processes in relation to the Undergraduateprogrammes

      There will also be the opportunity to engage in formal postgraduate study (e.g PGCert) or other professional development in medical education, which will be funded as part of the fellow role.
