- If required, The post holder will be able to have the opportunity to complete the CT3 equivalent (Stage 1 Top Up) training with support from the college tutor and an educational supervisor and will therefore have access to training opportunities to help achieve that. This includes attendance at departmental teaching and access to training lists.
- We are a hospital with a great reputation in undergraduate and postgraduate education, with a well-equipped simulation and clinical skills centre. We encourage all our staff to participate in teaching and training at both levels. Should the post holder have any interest in teaching and training others, we have personnel with lead roles in postgraduate medical/allied health professional education within the Trust to provide guidance and support.
- The Department of Anaesthesia and Critical Care also have keen interests in participating in research, supported by the Research and Development Department, therefore there will be opportunities for the post holder to take part in such activity.

- MBBS, MBChB or equivalent
- Full GMC Registration with no restrictions or conditions to practice
- Primary FRCA
- Certificates for; ATLS/ETC APLS/EPALS ALS/Equivalent
- Other relevant courses
- Evidence of commitment to medical education including further qualifications
- Experience of research

Job summary
Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is pleased to offer a Locally Employed Doctor (LED) role aimed at anaesthetists who are passionate about their career and looking to join a close-knit, dynamic and experienced team to deliver anaesthetic and critical care services. The role is ideally suited to those trainees looking to develop their portfolio in order to re-enter training to achieve CCT or embark on a CESR programme.
If required, the successful applicant will also benefit from support from the college tutor and a named educational supervisor to help achieve CT3/4 equivalent (Stage 1 Top Up) Training requirements where applicable.
All Trust appointed doctors are required to engage with continuing professional development guided by the Royal College of Anaesthesia. There is also a programme of mandatory training which all relevant staff must complete as required.
Main duties of the job
1. The post holder will be responsible to the consultants in anaesthetics/ intensive care, in the management of all patients.
2. The post-holder will be expected to:
Anaesthetise, and deliver all usual aspects of peri-operative care, under appropriate supervision. A combination of directly supervised and solo lists for service provision will be expected.
Participate in the on-call rota and have the experience to join the middle grade on call rota covering obstetrics or ICU or 1st on call (emergency theatres) as needed.
3. The post-holder will need to deputise from time to time, for absent colleagues, as far as this is consistent with above duties to cover short term sickness gaps.
4. The post-holder may occasionally be required to perform additional duties in emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
5. To undertake regular appraisal.
6. The post holder will be expected and encouraged to participate in clinical audit/QI and research activities and the implementation of clinical governance measures.
7. To attend departmental and governance meetings according to usual departmental practice.
8. Comply with all local policies including, annual and study leave policies.
9. To keep abreast of current knowledge for Continued Professional Development (CPD) and Continued Medical Education (CME) purposes.
