Founded by local communities in 1984, we offer free, expert care through our Inpatient Unit (IPU), home care, outpatient clinics, and our 24-hour Palliative Helpline (Pall24). Two-thirds of our care takes place at home, respecting patients' preferences. Our services are made possible through the generous support of our community, with only 25% funded by the NHS. St Lukes Hospice remains committed to offering accessible, high-quality care to those in need.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
