Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to work with the breast oncology team at UCLH for a clinical research fellowship.
Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer, with an estimated 2.3 In the United Kingdom, there are around 55,900 new breast cancer cases every year and it is the most common cancer, accounting for 15% of all new cancer cases. The increasing incidence of breast cancer and the most recent advances in breast oncology have led to significant expansion of the clinical practice. It brings up opportunities for research and service evaluation projects of real-world evidence data which can contribute to a better understanding of the new treatment landscape of breast cancer management.
The potential to derive benefits from routinely collected data is a major challenge for the NHS. The NHS could learn from every patient interaction to continually improve services, better understand health and care needs, develop new treatments, support advances in data-driven technology and AI, and enable more efficient and patient-centred care.
Main duties of the job
The aim of the post is to optimise trust-based quality of data for breast cancer patients with a development of clinical database, improvement of patients' recruitment to the unit's clinical trials and curation of data for various research projects.
The successful candidate will work closely with the breast medical oncology and research teams. Whilst the post is open to anyone with an interest in the above field and whom maybe ST1-5, please note that experience of working in the NHS is essential.

About the company
National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
