- M.B.B.S. or equivalent
- Full registration with GMC
- BSc & other higher degrees (full or part MRCP, FRCA, MRCS or equivalent)
- Previous experience in acute care (Emergency Medicine, Surgery or Critical Care)
- ALS , ATLS , APLS
- The applicant must be familiar with and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the major principles of the GMC's Good Medical Practice
- An interest in holistic trauma care and perioperative management of polytrauma
- An understanding of the importance of the patient as the central focus of care
- The ability to prioritise tasks and information appropriately
- An understanding of the importance of working effectively with others
- The ability to communicate effectively with both colleagues and patients
- Initiative and the ability to deal effectively with pressure and/or challenge
- An understanding of the principles of equality and diversity
- Team player
- Enjoys working in a disciplined, busy department.
- Contribution to medical school union, music, sport, drama etc

Job summary
This is an exciting post for doctors finishing Foundation training, or to ST1-2 level physicians who wish to gainexperience in the care of severely injured patients and would be suitable for aspiring surgeons, anaesthetists orintensive care trainees.The Major Trauma Centre at the Royal London Hospital covers north-east London and is one London's four majortrauma centres. We are also home to the London Air Ambulance.The post holder will work alongside their colleagues in Major Trauma, under the supervision of the Major TraumaConsultants and Registrars, to care for those patients with significant trauma.
Main duties of the job
Main Duties? Involvement in day-to-day inpatient management under the direction of thetrauma surgeon of the week.? Pre & post-operative management of all trauma cases? Preparing and presenting cases for the Multidisciplinary Team Meeting (MDT)? Performance of duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstancesat the request of the appropriate Consultant, in consultation where practical, withboth senior and junior colleagues? Support and supervision of junior team members.? To be familiar with the curriculum for Junior Doctor Training and ideallycontribute to their continuing education by meeting the requirements needed todeliver clinical supervision as well as assessment.? Participate in continuing professional development and appraisal according tocurrent Speciality College requirements and the GMC requirements forrevalidation.
