- Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining ST6-8 General Surgery
- Experience of General Surgery practice at ST6-8 level
- Ability to attend range of problems both emergency and elective within surgery
- Ability to take shared responsibility for clinical care of patients
- Ability to organise efficient and smooth running of research
- Ability to organise and manage outpatient priorities, surgical waiting lists and operating lists and rota
- Experience of audit management
- Experience of supervising PRHOs and SHOs in Ward
- Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical and surgical problems Presentations in National/International meetings
- Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to undergraduates
- Experience of current assessment methods e.g. case based discussion
- Evidence of good team working Good interpersonal skills Enquiring, critical approach to work
- Caring attitude to patients Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs nurses and other agencies
- Commitment to continuing medical education
- Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national levels

Job summary
This appointment is for a ST5+ Registrar in Colorectal Surgery at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. This post is offered for 12 months. The timetable will include working a Full shift/24-hour hybrid shift pattern to include weekends, night duty and cover provision on Acute and Elective Surgery.
Main duties of the job
The timetable is flexible and can be modified to reflect the special interests and expertise of the appointee.The provisional work programme is to be confirmed. It will include 1:13 on-call cover.Duties other than those clinical duties specified will be in accordance with the Job Plan agreed between theAppointee, the present Consultants and the Chief Executive. The Job Plan allows time for Administration,Teaching and Medical Audit.Participation in audit/appraisal and CME is mandatory under clinical Governance and GMC guidance.All employees may be required to work on any of the Trust's sites and across a seven day period
