      Job summary

      Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust is one of the largest Trusts in the UK with a busy secondary and tertiary referral ENT department. The ENT department consists of 14 consultants, 1 Associate specialist, 4 specialist ENT trainees, 2 Fellows and 8 junior doctors.

      The post offers 12 month fixed term period. Subspecialist areas to be chosen by the fellow and include Head and Neck, Paediatric airway, Otology and Lateral skull base, Rhinology and Anterior skull base. The fellow will need a reasonably advanced amount of experience and a desire to provide an excellent service to patients.

      The post is suitable for post certificate completion of training Specialist Registrars (or equivalent) who would like to gain further specialist experience.

      Interviews for those who are successfully shortlisted are expected to take place on Tuesday 8th July 2025 with post expected to commence at the beginning of October 2025.

      Main duties of the job

      The post is for a 12 month fixed term period. Subspecialist areas available for training include Head and Neck, Paediatric airway, Otology and Lateral skull base, Rhinology and Anterior skull base.

      The role consists of weekly outpatient clinics, casualty clinics, and theatre sessions in addition, applicants will be expected to participate in clinical governance, research, and a 1 in 6 on call.

      Leeds is a large city with the third largest metropolitan population in the country. The Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK. The Bexley Wing of St James Hospital is a state of the art oncology centre, serving the whole region.

      The ENT department has been rehoused in a new area, offering adjacency of clinic, consultant office, secretaries and management staff, which greatly enhances the working environment. Theatres are in the same area as our related specialties, allowing ease of interspecialty work. The paediatric work is carried out in the adjacent Childrens Hospital, with excellent ward and ICU facilities.

      MEDICAL STAFF IN THE DEPARTMENT

      The ENT unit consists of 14 consultants. There are currently 7 middle grade posts and 8 junior doctors, making this a thriving department covering almost all aspects of ENT surgery.
